Jim, I would like to add my two cents. To start, you may not be looking for or need a pat on the back, but you deserve one, man. As far as I'm concerned you have complied some of the best poets writing today in your zine. A sincere thanks for the hard wor , dedication, and a truly wonderful zine. It is an honor to be a part of this. Masses? We don't need no stinkin masses.

you do a great zine, and this is the best one yet. told you that, but this looks like a good place to say so. this place is full of wonderful writing. people don't always pay much attention to these guestbook things. but anyone who comes here to read poetry and stories will come back again. I'm proud as hell to have my work in such outstanding company. thanks, Jim.

well, Jazz, tis true and a shame. Writers are a strange lot. They work in a form nobody wants to read then act like they're fucking famous or something. Just piss on the wall and then bolt. I don't know who and who did not comment through email, so I on't name names, and wouldn't even if I knew. But, shit, I like the zine, and the piss they pissed before running off into the sunset. Did a zine myself a while back, and promised myself I wouldn't fuck up like that again. I wouldn't blame you if #5 is a long time in coming, and maybe never. But do understand, I appreciated number 4, and the other three I had no part of.

Jim, few of the people seem to have any interest in it at all. Only you guys who posted here on this book and maybe two or three emails I got otherwise. Most of the folks who have work here I haven't heard shit from one way or another--Oh yeah, one guy di complain because his bio wasn't posted. Never mind that he hadn't sent one. That's why I said I didn't know if I would fool with it again. It's a lot of work and, while I don't want any fucking pat on the back, it would be nice if people would be polite enough to just acknowledge it. Or, if they don't like how their stuff turned ut, say so. Anyway, my thanks to the handful of you who did.

You think with over 600 hits this place would have gotten a few more guestbook entries. well, maybe it's just us coming back and coming back to see if there are any new guestbook entiries. anyway, jazz, your stories here are great, just great. all the fcition is, and of course the poetry. always enjoy gerry locklin. how's you get his stuff? he online? best, jim

Dear Editor, I am writing to you to ask your help in promoting Boston Review’s first annual poetry contest, and to offer you a way to promote your excellent journal with a link on our Web site. The contest is open to all and offers a $1,000 prize along with publication in the Review. As this is the first year of the contest, we are eager to spread the word as widely as possible. We will soon be establishing a literary links page on our site (http://www-polisci.mit.edu/bostonreview), which gets an average of 2,000 visitors per week, many of whom visit our poetry and fiction pages. We would be pleased if you would provide a link t our contest guidelines in exchange for a link to your site. If you are interested in such an exchange (or in an exchange of banner advertisements), please contact me or the Review’s managing editor Matthew Howard (howard@mit.edu) at your convenience to iscuss the details.
