3) "My Mother Made a Meat Loaf" Some Thing Big Has Been Hear p.66 My mother made a meat loaf We borrewed bows and arrows, that provided much distress, and we firesd at close range, she tried her best to serve it, it didn't make a difference, but she met with no success, for that meatloaf didn't change, her sharpest knife was powerless we beset it with a blow torch, to cut a single slice, but we couldn't find a flaw, and her efforts with a cleaver and we both were flabbergasted failed compleatly to sufice. when it broke the power saw. She whacked it with a hammer, We hired a hippopotamus and she smacked it with a brick, to trample it around, but she couldn't phase that meat loaf, but that meat loaf was so mighty it remained without a nick, that it simply stood its ground, I decided I would help her now we manufacture meat loaves and assailed it with a drill, by the millions, all year long, but the drill made no impression, they are famous in construction, though I worked with all my skill. building houses tall and strong. We chipped at it with chisels, but we didn't make a dent, it appered my mother's meat loaf was much harder than cement, then we set upon the meat loaf with a hatchet and an ax, but that meat loaf stayed unblemished and withstood our fierce attacks.
4) "I Wave Good-bye When Butter Flies" Some Thing Big Has Been Hear p.80 I wave good-bye when butter flies It makes me sad when lettuce leaves, and cheer a boxing match, I laugh when dinner rolls, I've often watched my pillow fight, I wonder if the kitchen sinks, I've sewn a cabbage patch, and if a salad bowls, I like to dance at basket balls I've listened to a diamond ring, or lead a rubber bad, I've waved a football fan, I've marvelled at a spelling bee, and if a chimney sweeps the floor, I've helped a penut stand. I'm sure the garbage can. It's possible a pencil points, but does a lemon drop? Does coffee break or choclate kiss, and will a soda pop? I share my milk with drinking straws, my meals with chewing gum, and should I see my pocket change, I'll hear my kettle drum.

6) "Louder Than a Clap of Thunder!" The New Kid On The Block p.36 Louder than a clap of thunder, Louder than an earthquake rumbles, louder than an eagle screams, louder than a tidal wave, louder than a dragon blunders, louder than an ogre grumbles or a dozen football teams, as he stumbles through his cave, louder than a four-alarmer, louder than stampeding cattle, or a rushing waterfall, louder than a cannons roar, louder than a knight in armor louder than a giant's rattle, jumping from a ten foot wall. THAT'S how loud my father SNORES!
7) "The Flotz" The New Kid On The Block p.52 I am the Flotz, I gobble dots, When I confront a dotted line, indeed, I gobblelots and lots, my tounge flick out, those dots are mine, every dot I ever see Morse code becomes a feast, and yes, is bound to be a bite for me. I've snacked upon an S.O.S. I often munch on myraids For I'm the Flotz, who gobbles dots, of sweet, abundant periods, I gobble them in pails and pots, I nibble hyphens, and with ease and you'll not like my brief embrace chew succulent apostrophes. if you have freckles on your face. From time to tim I turn my gaze to little dotted "i's" and "j's" and if I chance upon a dash, I soon dispatch it with a panache. I chomp on commas half the day, quotation marks are rarer prey, a semicolon's quite a treat while polka dots are joys to eat.
8) "Homework! Oh, Homework!" The New Kid On The Block p.54 Homework! Oh, Homework! Homework! Oh, Homework! I hate you! You stink! You're last on my list, I wish I could wash you I simply can't see away in the sink, why you even exist, if only a bomb if you just dissapeared would explode you to bits it would tickle me pink. Homework! Oh, Homework! Homework! Oh, Homework! You're giving me fits. I hate you! You stink! I'd rather take baths with a man-eating shark, or wrestle lion alone in the dark, eat spinach and liver, pet ten porcupines than tackel the homework my teacher assigns.
9) "I Found a Four Leaf Clover" The New Kid On The Block p.74 I found a four-leaf clover I broke my brand-new glasses, and was happy with my find, and I couldn't find my keys, but with time to think it over, I stepped in spilled molasses, I've entirely changed my mind. and was stung by angry bees. I concealed it in my pocket When the kitten riped the curtain, safe inside a paper pad, and the toast burst into flame soon, much swifter than a rocket, I was absolutely certian my good fortune turned to bad. that the clover was to blame. I smashed my fingers in a door, I buried it discreetly I drooped a dozen eggs, in the middle of a feild, I sliped and tumbled to the floor, now my luck has changed completely, a dog nipped both my legs, and my wounds have almost healed. my ring slid down the bathtub drain, If I ever find another my pen leaked on my shirt, I will simply let it be, I barked my shin, I missed my train, or I'll give it to my brother- I sat on my dessert. he deserves it more than me.

"To a Water Fowl" by-William Callen Bryant Whither, 'midst falling dew, While glow the heavens with the last steps of day, Far through their rosy depths, dost thou pursue Thy solitary way? Vainly the fowler's eye Might mark thy distant flight to do thee wrong As, darkly painted on the crimson sky, Thy figure floats along. Seeke'st though the plashy brink, Of weedy lake, or marge of river wide, Or where the rocking billows rise and sink On the chafed ocean's side? There is a Power whose care Teaches thy way along that pathless coast- The desert and illimtable air- Lone wandering, but not lost. All day thy wings have fanned, At that far height, the cold, thin atmosphere, Yet stoop not weary, to the welcome land Though the dark night is near. And soon that toil shall end; Soon shalt thou find a summer hpme, and rest And scream among thy fellows; reeds shall bend, Soon, O'er thy sheltered nest. Thou'rt gone! the abyss of heaven, Hath shallowed up thy form; yet on my heart Deeply hath sunk the lesson thou hast given, And shall not soon depart. He who, from zone to zone, Guides through the boundless sky thy certian flight In the long way that I must tread alone Will lead my steps aright.
