About AVAA AVAA is a non-profit arts organization composed of working artists and supporters of the arts. Established in 1977 at the suggestion of the Arts Commission, AVAA (formerly Austin Contemporary Visual Arts Association, ACVAA) is one of the oldest visual arts organizations in Austin.
Founded by a group of interested artists, museum professionals and gallery owners, our stated purpose is to "encourage the knowledge, appreciation and practice of contemporary visual art."

To expand public appreciation and awareness of the visual arts and visual artists.
To increase access to and communication among artists for purposes of exchange, assistance, dialogue and coalition.
To promote professionalism in the visual arts field.
