Modelhorses

There are quite a number of wellknown hobbies in scale modelling like : cars, trains, ships and airoplanes. And also a number of not so familiar ones like : soldiers, rockets, science fiction and warhammer.

And now I discovered a new one : modelhorses.

Because we've had our own horse for a while, my interest was aroused, when I discovered all kinds of things about miniature horses and accessories, on the internet.

In the USA, collecting, making and painting modelhorses and everything around it, is a major hobby.

They even hold competitions, where these horses, setup in different settings, are being judged.

And because I'm only a beginner, I've asked several people if I could use photo's of their website, to illustrate what I'm talking about.

The first photo is from the website of Theresa Micheau

The next two photo's are from the website of : Traci Durrell-Khalife

The NAMHSA (North American Model Horse Show Association) regularly organizes shows.
The NAN (North American Nationals) is a competition held yearly since 1995.
Such a competition is what most people find the most fascinating aspect of collecting modelhorses.
People enter their horse(s) in specific categories and the winners get a rozet, just like the real horseraces.

Competition photo :

There are horses of plastic and porcelain.
Available sizes are :
Traditional(1:9), Classic(1:12), Little Bits(1:20), Stablemates(1:32) and Micro Mini scale(1:64).
Pictured from left to right are :
Traditional, Classic, Little Bits and Stablemates.

Classic scale is of course very interesting for us dollhouse lovers.
And because I'd like to work with leather, see my shoes and boots, I have ordered in the USA, materials to make a Western and an English saddle and accessoires.
It's not cheap and takes a lot of time to complete, but the result is really very nice. See the saddle pages.

You can order from me :

Horses (several breeds, colors and sizes)
Saddles {western or english and in the future probably also arabic)
Accessoires (halter, bridle, stirrups, horseshoes, splintboots, skidboots,
saddlepads, blankets, stables, riders, etc.)
Hardware (buckles, d-rings, o-rings, bits, hooks, conchos, plates etc. )
