A bit more about Dobhran:

Here is a more detailed description of the band, which we sometimes use for festival listings:

"From haunting airs to foot-tapping jigs and reels, Dobhran performs traditional and contemporary Celtic music on wooden flute and classical guitar. Dobhran means "otter" in Gaelic, and Dobhran's music reflects the grace and playfulness of these watery creatures.

In concert, Dobhran combines historical anecdotes and storytelling with expressive musicianship to bring out the tales behind the tunes. The warm tones of wooden flute and classical guitar weave a musical spell, echoing the joys and sorrows of a simpler time, but also carrying a sense of timelessness. On rhythmic, driving pieces, the duo uses pennywhistle, bodhran (Irish frame drum), and bones, which are sure to get your toes a-tapping.

Whatever the instrumentation, Dobhran's music carries a certain magic that comes from the pure joy of playing, as well as from the music itself."
