My Logo

Welcome... to an ongoing experiment

November 14th 2006

This is my new web page, nothing much to look at... yet. I am learning XHTML and CSS, and hope that this web site grows with my knowledge. So far, an incy wincy bit of XHTML, and a little bit of CSS which has been nabbed straight from the text book...

So far, I have made a box, colored the page and not a lot else. Still from little acorns, and all that...

In the meantime, why not check out the world's best football team?

What a handsome fella!

OK, back again, hopefully with a picture of me above this text. Having managed to link to Arsenal.com last week, this week finally started learning some CSS! Yippee... changed the colors of this site and text, will be moving to an external style sheet soon! Just look at how well the lingo is already running from my fingers to the keyboard! Using CSS I have styled the headers, the colors for the page and changed the font of the entire document to sans-serif. Huzzah!

After migrating the CSS outside this page I will have to think about layout (since that is what the book teaches next anyway) and add some other pages and content. I think a nice, two or three pane page would be nice. Wonder if I could fit a blog in too... also need graphics! Otherwise, it's going to be a rather boring page!

Incidentally I gave up coding the pages in Notepad... it was painful. Am now using Dreamweaver, but sticking strictly to the code editor, with most of the helpers turned off. It means all the code is being typed in my me (none of that sneaky auto-complete stuff) but it a more easily-editable form. It does make it a pain in the arse to upload to geocities though... 'cos they don't support FTP unless I pay for the privilege. Grrr.... I mean, I may want my own page at some stage but thanks for making it intentionally difficult!

Well that's all until next time... so I will leave you with a pic of the world's coolest Arsenal player

Well I changed the graphic, got meself a bit of a logo, but need to figure out how to make the text flow around it.. it looks a bit crap just sitting up there in the left-hand corner of the box by itself, doesn't it?
