Kendall Hart arrived in Pine Valley in March 1993, desperately seeking to be loved and accepted by her mother Erica Kane. And Sarah Michelle Gellar's incredible performance as Kendall won her a nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress at this year's Emmy Awards. Erica tried to accept Kendall, but couldn't. Her illegitimate daughter's sudden appearance has totally disrupted Erica's life. Erica's rejection brought out the worst in Kendall. She tried to sabotage Erica's wedding to Dimitri, and was insanely jealous Of Erica's love for her other daughter, Bianca. Kendall was shocked when Erica revealed her father was Richard Fields, and that Fields had raped Erica, resulting in Kendall's birth.
Sarah shares her feelings about her character: "Kendall has grown up a lot. She's started to come to grips with her feelings about being abandoned by Erica. Kendall loves Dimitri because she's always wanted a father. It's going to crush her when she finds out he's Anton's father. "She loves Anton because he takes care of her, but I think deep down she knows she doesn't love him the way she should. She'd like to experience that mad, passionate chemistry. More than anything," Sarah adds, "Kendall wants Erica to love her."
Before AMC, Sarah was best known for her portrayal of Sydney Rutledge in the syndicated soap Swan's Crossing. The New York-born actress also guest-starred in prime time TV, and starred as young Jackie Kennedy in the TV film, A Woman Named Jackie.
