Welcome

Everyone who has supported #Artist over the last six months have been fantastic. It seems like we've gotten off to many false starts, and that sometimes it went for days with nobody showing up, but people are finally taking notice thanks to the loyalty of a core group of people.

The goals, listed below, are still the same. The motivation is still the same. We are still the only online forum for Traditional Artistic Mediums, and we're finally beginning to get noticed.
I've just added another instruction for Figure Drawing. It's not much, but please check it out and e-mail me if you have anything to add to it. I've made arrangements with another artist I've encountered for an essay on some rather interesting and simple techniques for observation that are not generally spoken of, but produce dramatic results even from those who think they can't draw a straight line.
Too: We're constantly looking for any of you who might wish to contribute information on technique to this page. It is, after all, supposed to be a learning page for the aspiring artist.
We're always open, so come join us.

    GOALS:
  • 1: Become a respected resource for Illustrators.
  • 2. Become a Resource for people wishing to find out more about drawing with real pencils and real paper.
  • 3. Keep on top of the latest illustration software, primarily Vector Programs such as Corel Draw, Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator and the absolute king of the Illustration Software: XARA.
  • 4. Make this page a learning page... for all those people who come to #ARTIST to contribute material related to helping others Hone their skills with a pencil... I hope to have the first of these pages up very soon... so keep checking back.
  • 5. Get as many illustrators in touch with the Authors who need their services as possible... we've already had some bites on this one... in connection with #Authors and other channels on the Undernet.
  • 6. To prove that IRC isn't just about CyberSex and Warez... ;-)

    Illustration Software
Illustration Software and Usenet News Support
Here, you will find the best software for CREATING Images in the computer (not "editing" images) and the Usenet Newsgroups that support them, the Usenet still being the single best (Fastest and Somewhat reliable) source for Software support there is to this day.
    IRC Channels, Software and Support
Messages: alt.irc.undernet.authors is the Official Newsgroup of our friends on #Authors, and for now we have permission to share that area until we have enough people to make our own NG. Any posts should have Artist or #Artist in the beginning of the Subject Header. If you've looking for some interesting channels, or need help getting onto an IRC Network, here are some links for you to check out.
    RECOMMENDED APPS for ARTISTS
Cetus Word Pad this is a great little text editor with a good spell checker ideal for those who have a multitude of Graphics Software but don't want to clutter up their hard drive with a Word or WordPerfect that they'll never really use... it comes in a ZIP file, so you'll need WinZip to install it.
