Fat German Productions specialises in writing just about anything that the Fat German wants to write. Some of it works too. All Fat German Productions software is GollywogWare. This means it is subject to the following conditions:
1) It must be distributed free of charge and unaltered.
2) It must be used while smiling. Frowning at our programs is not allowed.
3) It must be used for something productive, not just because it's there.
4) You must get down and boogie.
Some programs may have their own restrictions, but you can worry about those when you've downloaded them.
Taking those considerations into account, go ahead and download whatever you desire.
IMPORTANT NOTE! As of 1st Jan 1998, Fat German productions has ceased maintaining all the programs listed here. Unfortunately, RiscPCs can't run Cubase so mine had to be sent into retirement. Support will still be available via email, but I am no longer able to fix bugs. But please get in touch if you want to offer me money.
Another Important Note! Somebody else thinks this stuff is not only worth preserving, but worth updating too. Bent Bracke has taken over developing most of the stuff on here. You can find him at www.arcsite.de/hp/bracke.
It's features are too many to describe in detail, but here's what one of the Great Green Gollywog's minions came up with:
It's a wastebin for deleting files. Files can be automatically aged so that they are kept in the bin for only a specified number of days.
It can intercept files being deleted from the filer menu or the command line. It can also intercept most occasions on which files are overwritten
It has a selection of pretty animated iconbar icons.
Fast wiping of E- and F- format discs.
It has a quite nice file finder. You can extend the file finder's capabilities if you know any BASIC.
It has a screen saver, for which you can write your own savers.
Should work on every machine with RISC OS 3.10 and above.
Lots of other things.
FatPaint was supposed to be a really user-friendly painting package, designed as a complement to !Paint, which is a bit basic, really. However, FatPaint became very large and very complicated and eventually even The Great Green Gollywog got bored with it. So it's here in an unfinished form, because we wouldn't want people thinking we've been sitting around idly.
FatPaint was designed in conjunction with a professional graphic designer and was intended as much as an exercise in user interface design as a painting program. We hoped to create a piece of software that worked the way an artist works, not the way a programmer works. Maybe we succeeded. Who knows?
This version of FatPaint is an early alpha release which may or may not be developed further. Whether it is developed will depend a lot on whether anyone downloads it and decides they like it. Even then they have to email me to tell me they like it.
There's an HTML version of the 'manual' supplied in the archive, but it should all be straightforward. But remember that this is alpha software and there may be occasions on which it causes your screen to go all black and you lose all your work.
Features - lots. Here's a few:
Loads and saves JPEGs and sprites, and can load Draw files and paste them onto your picture.
All sorts of painting tools including paint, airbrush, wash, fill, mix colour with current colour, irregular cut and paste, undo, use tiled sprite as paint.
Separate Zoom view where the picture can be scaled to any magnification. All the tools can be used on the zoom window.
Correct handling of Masks - transparent pixels can be added or removed using any of the paint tools. Areas that are masked cannot be painted over.
Requires RiscOS 3.50 or above (3.60 or above for JPEG support). StrongARM recommended for speed (well, there's some Assembler in there, but it's mostly BASIC.
Timeless is just an iconbar clock. It displays the time in your choice of outline font, colour, smell, 3d virtual reality, etc. And it uses up about 4K of your precious memory. Should run on anything from RiscOS 3.10 upwards. That's all there is to say really.
This is a small wotnot that will bring the iconbar to the front of the window stack when you put the mouse pointer at the bottom of the screen. When you click somewhere else it will hide the iconbar again.
I don't use it because I find it inexplicably extremely annoying to have that stupid little bar suddenly pop up out of nowhere when I was going for the horizontal scroll bar. But some people might like it. The module's only a few K so you won't even notice it's there. At least, not until the stupid little grey....but I've been there before.
This is a small utility which might be of interest to people who use MIDI sequencers and other bar-based musical thingies. It (currently) allows you to convert between a number of bars and a real time, and vice-versa. You enter how many beats per bar and beats per minute your song has, and you can then convert between bars and minutes, or minutes and bars.
New for version 1.10! It now will also work out how many beats per minute your drum samples contain, which is actually quite useful, though I say so myself
