Reviews For August 30- Sept. 5

  1. ***** "Mary Lavender" By Carol Roth
Oh, I enjoyed this! I liked the rhythm. And the message (another reviewer said he couldn't find it) seemed clear to me. I would like to meet Mary Lavender, senior wise guy! PJ

  2. *** "Fear Of Loss" by Wayne Stone
Sorry, this one missed it. Bad spelling, and hard to understand! Need to proof read before submitting. Jack Mann

  3. ***** "My Strongest Need" by John A. Wilson
Ha Ha, Very good! I thought for a minute it was going to be x rated. Jack Mann

  4. *** "A Gentle, Soft Rain" by R.L. Walker
Hi-Love rain---nice piece--you mention renewal at end--you tell us, then you show us--I'd show or tell, not both Gerri

  5. ***** "EMail"by Alice Bateman
Rejection is something your use to and in this poem it says it all. Jessica Sayer

  6. ***** A Simple Man By Loyal Wray
so touching... I can think of a dozen different endings, but none are as perfect PJ

  7. ***** Daydreams By Loyal Wray
there is a repetition of theme, without dragging on and on. There is a crescendo of emotion, without blowing out of proportion. Makes me laugh. I keep this story with me when I'm feeling low! PJ

  8. ***** "Bright Parrot" By Alice Bateman
This is a lite, funny poem that flows smoothly. I have to give it a five star rating. Jack Mann

  9. ***** Now, What Day Today Is It? by R.L. Walker
Very good, rolls right off the tongue! A little pointless but sounds good. Abstract,Funny! I give it a 5 Jack Mann

  10. **** By Sharon Maier
Very Funny. Brings back a lot of my own memories on the farm. Holds your attention well. Sounds like the story is being told around the kitchen table. Not very professional, but that gives it flavor. I give it a four. Jack Mann

  11. ***** Oh To Be A Fish By Alice Bateman
Very Good! Has a lot more depth than first strikes the eye. Think about it. Flows smoothly. Jack Mann

  12. ***** "My Baby Boy" By Jack Mann
The love of a parent for a child is ageless and priceless. That theme resounds in this work. Simplicity supports success! Glenda St. John

  13. ***** How To Nurture A Violent-Free Child By Peggy Butler
Excellent, well-stated views on child-rearing. Advice well worth following. A definite five-pointer! Alice In Wordland

  14. ***** Father's Love By Charlie Mann
What a warm loving relationship this author must have had with his father. George

  15. ***** "Fairy Tales" By Diana Keeton
Captivating! A real "Spellbinder." May I suggest ... shorter paragraphs. I suggest you contact Hollywood. A great "candidate" for a "Twilight Zone" epidsode. My compliments! R.L. Walker

  16. **** Silent Invader By Emily Janiak
A genuine heart felt reality! Needs a little cleaning up, but very good. Jack Mann

  17. **** Fairy TalesBy Diana Keeton
Diana Keeton is obviously very intelligent. This story has great depth and is very moving. BUT, most people would have to have a dictionary to be able to understand it. Words like ingesting, enigmatic, authenticity, actuality, semblance, and phrases like "ingesting this enigmatic event" and "The mystical ambiance diluted." are a little much for most people, don't you think. Jack Mann

  18. ***** My Baby Boy By Jack Mann
I think that Jack has written a sweet, touching poem here. I look forward to reading more of his work. gatorgirl

  19. **** Fairy Tales By Diana Keeton
Sounds like a spooky experience! It's true, right? Though it sounds contradictory, but I think you could make this story even better by having less words and more detail. I was interested in hearing maybe one specific example of the things the old woman knew about your life. I was less interested in the physical setting, although that could be just me. Roderick Young

  20. ***** "Silent Invader" By Emily Janiak
Will there be an update? This is very good. Vivian

  21. ***** Fairy Tales By Diana Keeton
This piece caught my interest right away. This reader is big-time into crystals and lizards. Characterizations were good. Story line delightful. You know what Shakeseare said, I hope, as I forget----there are more things in this world Horatio--yadda, yadda--I'll remember tomorrow. Gerri

  22. ** Take The You Out Of us By Alice Bateman
    I liked the ending--universal theme--lacks strength Gerri

  23. *** Silent Invader By Emily Janiak
Hi-Think we've all been there, and so story needs to be told. Needs punch--let reader know how difficult it was---the waiting--it's hell. Gerri

  24. **** Summer Treats By Geraldine Cook Davis
Very sensual--I like the "velvet lies/red licorice tips" best because it undercuts the charm with the reality!!! J. Grandchamp

  25. **** The E.T. Connection By Geraldine Cook Davis
I loved this, but I'm a sucker for "dad dying" stories. I'd trim this and make it a prose poem--powerful! J. Grandchamp

  26. **** "Our Preacher, Bill" By Raye McDonald
A very heart felt poem. It really touches the soul. Could flow a little smoother. Jack Mann

  27. *** "Ten Pens" By Geraldine Cook Davis
Good Grief! I am afraid I don't have the necessary wisdom to appreciate the essence of this piece. Jack Mann

  28. ***** "My Hero" By Colleen Sweeney
What can I say? This is one of the best written, most heart rendering stories I have ever read! It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing it with us. Jack Mann

  29. ***** "Bright Parrot" By Alice Bateman
Delightful, light poem. 'Made me smile. I enjoyed the rhythm. PJ

  30. ***** "Fairy Tales" By Diana Keeton
Maybe I'm rating this highly simply because I'm captivated by this topic, wondering all the while if the story is true. I'll read it again in a few days to see if my reaction is the same. But, Diana captured my attention from the start and kept it the entire time. Now I want to talk with her!!!! PJ

  31. ***** "I Want" By Alice Bateman
I don't usually read the poetry as I cannot get into it. But when I read the review of this I was curious. And I'm so glad I read it. I love the metre. I love the poetic prose. And I can certainly relate to the topic. PJ

  32. ***** "Why Wife, My Lover, My Friend" By Jack Mann
A wonderful, heartfelt poem that any wife would be very proud of. I'ts nice to hear of a good, solid marriage in this day and age! Alice In Wordland
