...and did you know that wasn't my real name?

DICKON EDWARDS HAS HIS SAY.

"Exchange your thoughts with others of your persuasion. Or should that be predicament?"
"New fanzine by Rachel Stevenson, also a member of Fosca."
"The writings of Jonathan Selzer. For anyone who thinks, 'if life is like a box of chocolates, mine must be Maltesers...'"
"Music be damned!"

Hefner amount to Belle and Sebastian's younger siblings...complete with lovelorn tales a la Moz delivered in a nasally whine that people tend to either love or hate.

Composed of members of Heavenly...coming to a venue near you!
Former home of Shelley, The Field Mice, Heavenly, Northern Picture Library, and more...Blueboy on Shinkansen are one of my current favourites.
"Radical wisdom."

Was awarded an honourary degree during Columbia University's 1999 commencement ceremony, along with Muhammed Ali. Also debated Edward Said at Columbia in regards to politics in the Middle East...I know all of this because I'm a prisoner...er, I mean student at the afore-mentioned [mental] institution. Sadly, I prefer reading the thoughts of other "wise" men.

"Oscar for all."

Mr. Wilde speaks for himself. On the other hand, I'm still trying to make a case for Steven Patrick Morrissey being a figurative reincarnation of Oscar...don't comment on that.

"The ultimate radical."

Brilliant. Absolutely hysterical. I thank Dickon for opening my eyes to Mr. Crisp's work...I finally got to see his one-man show in New York this past year and met the man himself. Spry and fit for his 90-odd years. And as witty as ever. Some people want to look good in old age...me, I'll be thrilled if my mind is anywhere near the capacity as that of Quentin Crisp's.

"For dancing queens who like Broadcast."
"Alistair Fitchett's thoughtful e-zine."
"The UK is the most watched country in the world. Smile!"

FOR THE COMMERCIAL WHORE IN ALL OF US.

Nicked from the GEMM website: GEMM is an open marketplace which combines the complete inventory of hundreds of competing and complementary sources of new and used music, books, and video including the world's leading discounters, importers, independent "mom and pop" stores, used traders, collectors, and labels, publishers, manufacturers and artists selling directly.

This site is particularly useful in finding Orlando releases, in both cd and vinyl. Make sure you read the feedback left for the sellers from whom you're looking to buy just to be safe. Also, there are many Orlando listings which "can be backordered". I would treat this with caution as I've repeatedly been told by record store owners and friends who've gone searching for me that Orlando releases have since been deleted.

It's not just a website. It's an addiction. In all honesty, I've never found any Orlando or Shelley up for auction at Ebay...but they have a wonderful offering of Sarah Records vinyl (mostly) and cds. Also, if you're an obsessive when it comes to music, rarities from Pulp to Dusty Springfield are up for grabs here. Not to mention some pretty swimming vintage clothing...feather boas anyone?
This company claims to have Orlando releases. I've never ordered from them, but if you're desperate, give them a go. Mind, most of these Orlando releases don't appear to be from *this* Orlando...and those that are all seem to come from Holland. Is there something going on in Holland that I don't know about? An Orlando kibbutz perhaps? Oh my...

MAGAZINES, FANZINES, AND VARIOUS OTHER "LITERARY" QUANDARIES.

Read your music rags! They mean fuck all, but read read read. Besides, you may just find some good pictures to swoon over...or throw darts at.
