Apperance: Gilthana has mid length curly auburn-red hair, and intense green eyes. She is very short and slender, with a roundish face, and delicate, childish features. Her cheeks are lightly freckled, and her skin has a slightly tan appearance
Background: Gilthana was born of an elven father; a dark elf, cast out from his people for a crime he did not commit, and a human mother. Her father, Gilthis Nightflower, a Silvanesti Nobel, and her mother, Stella Silvering, the daughter of a Palanthas merchant, met by chance within the city streets and fell in love. When Stella’s father found out, he secretly had the Dark Elf killed, and urged his daughter to give up the child. Grief striken by the death of her love, Stella ran away to her brother Fistus to have the child, a brother who had left the confines of their family long ago.
When the child was born, Stella decided that she wished to make her own way in the world. All she needed was her darling daughter. Fistus often frightened her; a Magic user, he had recently passed his test and donned the Black Robes, and she did not wish her daughter to be negatively influenced. Aside from all this, Fistus, with his secretiveness and dark, brooding moods, was beginning to frighten her.
So Stella traveled, looking for work, and finally finding it in the form of a small inn near Wayreth. There, she and her daughter were happy, if not wealthy, and so they remained for over two years. However, when her daughter was just over ten, she and the innkeepers daughter went out to play in the woods behind the inn, and Gilthana slipped and fell into the stream, and nearly drowned. The occurrence so frightened Stella, that she decided to bring her daughter to a place where she could keep constant watch over her then and there.
Disowned and alone, the only place she knew of was with her brother. So she made the decision, thinking that she could temper his influence with her own, and assuring herself that Gilthana's sweet nature would not allow her to be corrupted. What Stella could not know was that Fistus was secretly working with the knights of Tahkisis, and the Knights needed talented youngsters. Githana was already showing progress with the magic, under her uncle’s tutelage, and Gilthana, loving the magic, naturally adored the uncle that so gave the knowledge to her. And so, when he encouraged that she go live amongst the knights, she was ecstatic. And secretly, he told his sister that if she prevented it, they would BOTH die.
Fearing more for her daughters life than her own, Stella allowed it. She did not know what else to do. And Gilthana was raised amongst the knights from twelve to twenty five, gaining knowledge of the sword, and the magic, being geared to become a knight of the thorn. Her sweet nature was inevitably pushed aside by her cunning, and her loyalty, and by the vision. And in her vision was a mission: Her thread wove with that of the conclave. Young still, she was to go to them, and seek a master. And she would gain power there, infiltrating, and still reporting to her Master Skull Knights. And when her power was great enough, and when the time was right, she would work with the others who had received her similar vision, for then would they be revealed, and she would destroy the conclave from within.
Gilthana gained a master in Solace in the person of Rynare Caladon, and more than she bargained for. Rynare quickly discovered her secret, but in his show of mercy she gained a respect for him, and finally understood that the path of the Knighthood was not the path she had been chosen, but that had been forced upon her. She abandoned her ties with them, and has been apprenticed to Rynare since that time.
As Rynare’s apprentice, she has at times been sent with errands for her master. Such was the case when she delivered a message to Maren Sterling. Here too, she got much more than she bargained for, as she had to make a promise for a contest of the blade in order to fulfill her masters request. As she kept this promise, she made a losing bet that began a love affair with Maren, and ended with a child. Gilthana is currently in hiding, her unborn child being sought by many factions for a strange power it is to possess.
