Kuno Hunter

"The Most Dangerous Man Alive"

Race: Human (Solamnic)

Class: Fighter

Age: 30

Appearance: Kuno is a ruggedly handsome, well built man. His mother was Ergothian, giving him the strong dark features of the Northern peoples, and he has deep brown eyes accompanied by full lips. He can appear at one moment powerful and dangerous, and at another charming and sauve. His long tresses of black hair are pulled back into a braided ponytail. A tatoo of a red dragon wrapped around a sword covers his upper right arm.

History: Born to a rather well to do Solamnic family, Kuno was reared ever since his early childhood to inherit the rank and duties of his father, Lord Kessan Luxor, knight of Solamnia.  He was a quiet, reserved, and shrewd child, known not for being playful or wicked, but for the intense dedication to which he commited himself in all things.  As he grew up, he seemed likely to inherit all that was due to him, and became the youngest knight of Solamnia ever, at thirteen.   It was then that tragedy struck, and his parents were brutally murdered.   Their killer was never found, and Kuno's obsession with avenging them soon only led to depression and silent grief.  It also made him a very reckless man, and he began to squander his inheritance in poor business decisions.  Only two things held Kuno's sanity in check, his compassionate younger sister, Miya, and his fiancee, a tomboyish, childhood friend who had blossomed into a headstrong young woman.

Unfortunately, a mismanaged business deal and a subsequent murder led to the collapse of his fragile peace.  Kuno was held chief suspect in the crime, and while his name was eventually cleared, it was not without being dragged through the mud first.  His fiancee, forced by her family to terminate the engagement, was subsequently married off to a more suitable nobleman.  Disillusioned with the Solamnic Knight's failure to uphold his honor, and that of his family, Kuno left the knighthood in disgrace.

Young Kuno joined up with his old friend Kyle Wyndsong, along with his sister Miya, and a band of young adventurers.  Here he fell into a routine of drinking and wenching, and finally had a falling out with both his sister and his friends.   Under the tutelage of swordsman Damascus Hunter, Kuno dedicated himself to perfecting his skills as a warrior.

Following the mysterious death of his mentor, Kuno gave up on his former beliefs and became a mercenary, not caring what the cause was as long as the money was good.  He earned a reputation as a skilled warrior who had killed many men.  Word eventually reached him that his sister and friends had been killed in a tragic mishap, and the only survivor was the half-elf, Kyle.  The despair drove Kuno to the ends of his sanity, and during a moment of madness, he was possessed by a powerful berserker spirit.  He has since wandered the land as a fighter and mercenary, silently tormented by the dark powers within him.

When he arrived in Solace, it was because he was hunting down the man he blamed for his sisters death.  Though he found Kyle, in disguise as author Karl Lupine, he was stopped from killing him by the intervention of the elf girl Hikaru.  Kuno departed and joined the war in Ergoth, fighting for the King as a mercenary.  Disillusioned by all the carnage, when he returned to Solace he took up residence at the Thieves Guild, where he formed an uneasy friendship with Maren Sterling.  Slowly, the berserker spirit began to retake control of his body, and Kuno left one night and has yet to return.

Since leaving Solace he has disappeared into obscurity... though rumors began to spread through Solamnia of a fearless warrior, "The Dragon" who hunts down bandits and killers, a legendary, incomparable swordsman with a dragon tattoo on his arm.

He next encountered heroes from Solace who had followed Kyle Wyndsong and his revolutionaries in a march on Palanthas.  Unconcerned with political matters, he was forced to join the movement to repay a favor.  When the revolutionaries were slaughtered in the streets of the city, Kuno was one of a handful of survivors.  He set out on a quest for revenge, riding across Solamnia to redeem his fallen comrades.

In the course of the civil war, he gained noteriaty as one of the leading warriors in the reform movement, undefeated in combat at the head of the most feared fighting unit: The Red Dragons.  These warriors were considered heroes by the peasantry, but disdained by the upper classes on both sides of the conflict. If he had so wished, Kuno could have led his force to conquer most of Solamnia, or be crowned head of the military at the war's end. Yet as a peace agreement was reached, Kuno realized he no longer had a place in the new civil government.  He disbanded his forces and set out with his protege, Hikaru Moonstream, to finally lay the fallen boys of Solace to rest...
