Kyle Wyndsong

Alias:
Baronet Kyle Bonaventure, Yellow Belmont, Karl Lupine
Race:
Half-Elf
Class:
Bard/Ranger
Age:
approx. 55 years (Appears to be in his late twenties)
Appearance:
Kyle Wyndsong is a master of disguise, and at any given moment he may appear to be
anyone. Throughout his career as a performer, adventurer, and spy he has been many
people, each with a distinct look and style. His most notable 'characters' are the
popular songstress Yellow Belmont, and the author and historian, Karl Lupine. In his
natural state, Kyle seems to be man in his late twenties. His features are angular and somewhat
feminine, and he has a slender figure. Though he is a half-elf, his ears have been
bobbed and no indication is given of his heritage. He wears the brand of a
dragonarmy prison camp on his right forearm.
Demeanor:
Those who knew Kyle in different stages of his life are familiar with completely different
people. At his prime, Kyle was charming and charismatic, and got along well with
anyone. He loved a challenge and a good argument as much as performing and having fun.
However people change, and at this stage in his life Kyle could be described as melancholy
fellow, and far too serious for his own good. His charismatic qualities have not
changed, and people are inclined to listen to him and follow him. He is a peaceful
fellow, and is not likely to start a quarrel with anyone, in fact more than often he has
acted as a moderator between various factions.

Background:
Kyle is the son of a Qualinesti ranger, Alessa Wyndsong, and Solamnic lord, Antonius
Bonaventure. His elven mother died shortly after his birth for reasons which Kyle still
does not know, and Kyle was "raised" by his father, behind the walls of a manor
in Northern Solamnia. He rarely spoke with his paternal figure, as the elder man
was too shocked by his son's similarities to his dead wife, and seemed quite afraid of him
at times. And so Kyle grew up very much on his own, reading books and gaining a
great deal of knowledge, though he had little understanding of the outside world.
However, the boy had
the fascination with nature of his mother, and could not stay shut up indoors
forever. He found ways to slip out of the castle, to visit his fathers lands, and
the forests. During the course of one of these ventures, he met up with a band of
travelling performers, with which he was greatly impressed. He asked his father to
bring more performers to the manor, and eventually convinced the man to open a playhouse
in their village.
When Kyle had
reached adolescence, his father remarried, hoping to fill the void in his life.
Within a year, his human brother was born, and Kyle's stepmother took steps to send him
away from the manner. His father enrolled his son a fine Palanthus academy. He
learned a great deal more here, but Kyle still couldn't stay in one place, and was not
particularly well likely by the snobbish lads that attended the institute. Soon after his
year
of academics was finished, Kyle slipped away from the school, following his adventurous
spirit. For several years he travelled across the land. It was at this time
that the War of the Lance came about, and the young man was caught up in the termoil and
strife. He spent a majority of the war in a dragon army internment camp, while he
finally understood what pain and suffering were. As he qppeared little more than a
young boy, Kyle was protected by another prisoner, a knight named Lord Kessan Luxor, who,
with Kyle's assistance, lead the riot which overthrew their draconian masters, and freed
the other slaves.
Returning home Kyle
found that a great deal had changed. His step-mother had passed away during the
war, and his father been called out to serve in some ambassadorial post for the
government. His younger brother was not too pleased to see him, and did not allow
Kyle to assist in the rebuilding of their town. Kyle knew that there was nothing
left for him there. As he passed through the village, he saw the little playhouse
which his father had built. Within a week, with the assistance of a few local
performers, a new production was staged there, and brought a few moments of happiness back
into the hearts of the weary villagers. Kyle dediced that many could find a brief
solace in the beauty of the theater, and set out as a travelling performer to do what he
could for the world.
In the course of his
travels, Kyle learned many things. He became accustomed to all the languages of
this worlds people, and even travelled to the twisted heart of the Silvanesti
homelands. His knowledge grew from arts to academics and to the sciences as
well. He earned a great reputation as a teacher, and made many friends as well.
A visit to the
manner of Lord Kessan Luxor changed his life once again. As his elven blood slowed
his aging significantly, Kyle rarely kept track of time. Years had past since the
war, and Sir Kessan had raised two children. The eldest, Kuno, seemed just as old
as Kyle, and was a strong and clever man like his father. The boy was on his way to
continue his training for the Solamnic knighthood. Sir Kessan's daughter, a
beautiful sixteen year old named Miya, was a student of music and art, and would be
educated at a distinguished ladies college in Palanthas. Kuno and Kyle formed a fast
friendship, and Kyle decided there was nothing to lose by joining them in the most
illustrious city of Ansalon. He continued his trade, as a performer, while also
imparting his knowledge and philosophy with the other illectuals of Palanthas's forums.
Within three years,
Lord Kessan Luxor was killed in a grisly murder. Stricken with grief, Kuno departed
the knighthood, and took his sister with him. Kyle followed suit, only to make sure
the two of them were alright. Soon the three of them became the core of one of the
most illustrious adventuring companies of modern times, the Impresarios. Kuno was
slowly taking a darker path, one of constant boozing and wenching, while getting in a
great many fights. A fight with Kyle over the bard's obvious relationship with Miya
ended with Kuno's departing, after breaking Kyle's nose. Miya had depended greatly
on her brother, despite his obvious flaws, and could not deal with having no family at
all. She became increasingly dependant on Kyle for emotional support. However,
their relationship ended tragically when she, along with the other members of their band,
were lost in the course of a botched adventure.
When Kyle arrived in
Solace, it was under the guise of Songstress Yellow Belmont or bookish writer Karl
Lupine. In the course of his adventures with the various residents of Solace, he has
defended the High Clerists Tower (rumoured to have taken on the Dragon Highlord Ariakan),
rescued Justarius from captivity in Ergoth, and written a comprehensive history of the
town, post Cataclysm.
When Kuno arrived in
search of revenge, the young bard quickly fled Solace. When he returned, it was at
the head of a small band of Ergothian revolutionaries. He is currently part of an
organized proletariat movement to reform the Solamnian government, under the direction of
former Knight Commander Antares.
In recent years,
Kyle has been heavily involved in political movements, almost to extremes. As a
participant in the Ergothian revolution, and now in Solamnia, he earned a reputation
as a man of principles who fights for the common man... but as a fellow of contradictions,
Kyle prefers to use methods of disguise and subterfuge to complete his tasks, going to
great pains to avoid violence. Emotionally tortured and dying of a strange cancer, it seemed more than likely that the idealistic young man has delusions of martyrdom... but what may be more
shocking is his tendency to draw others in with his charisma... accompanied by his
student, Hikaru Moonstream, the ranger Rand Hollindale, and Kyle's somber new love,
Nethalye Nystar, along with his band of reformers, he was intent on changing the course
of history... no matter the cost.
