The parliamentary committee in charge of political and international cooperation in Somaliland, yesterday [7 October], during a press conference held at Hargeysa's Hotel Ming Sing, termed a statement issued by the Arta group [Somali interim government] through BBC on Saturday [6 October] as that similar to a person asking to be led at a prayer function by an absent prayer leader.
The chairman of the committee, Hon Muhammad Muse Diriye, said it was a mistake and totally wrong for the Arta group to stop assuming the plain facts regarding the statehood of Somaliland. "I would advise these men in Mogadishu not to pretend by denying the truth, instead have faith and build for themselves the government that they inherited from Italy," said Mr Diriye, adding that "failure to abandon such crooked mentality by the Arta group and others with a similar view, the Somaliland issue would create further complications and problems that would affect the Horn of Africa region.
"I am warning the people in Mogadishu and the international community, if Somaliland is not left alone, the way it is now, and instead got interfered with, a fresh spark of fire would break out and gutter down the Horn of Africa in general"...
