| Thursday, October 24th, 2002 If Mr.Qasim cares about the Somali people all he has to do is resign and stop claiming that he is president and attend the peace confernce. ...the so called Dr. Qasims of the Arta faction in his press release yesterday said that Somaliland needs to participate in the peace conference that is being held in Kenya. . Did mr. Qasim forget that the Somalilnd people are in pursuit to bring him and his cronies to justice for the crime and atrocities they have commited against thousands of innocent somaliland people when they were in Siad Barre's cabinet. The Arta faction, war criminals ,and terrorists must stop making an excuse or reason Somaliland for not attending the peace conference . Somaliland can make a peace deal with the people of Somalia when a government elected by the people for the people of Somalia is formed, but not with the war criminals,remnant of the terrorist Siad Barre, who hijacked the peace process and the reconciliation and call themselfs a government. The Arta faction needs to stop interfering and meddling with the Somalind internal afairs. It has never occured in the history of mankind where the remnants of an ousted dictator regime go back to a country where they left by a gun point, go back by carrying clan , subclan and religion passport and tell the people of world that they are building a nation that they had destroyed, and accuse those who ousted them as an obstacle to peace. Qasim and his cronies must know that Somaliland will never be seated or forgive the perpetrators who killed thousands of it's people. And will do what ever takes that they are brought to justice. The cling of power by Arta faction is only going to strengthen Somaliland and severe the relationship between Somaliland and Somalia . Qasism said in his statement that Somaliland is provinces of Somalia, did Qasim forgot that Somaliland was a country that merged with an other country? ", Did he ask himself who separated Somaliland and Somalia ? is it Somaliland, Ethiopia or the late dictator and his cronies like himself ? Actually Ethiopia helped somaliland and Somalia liberate themself from the late dictator and his cadres, like Qasim. Ethiopia also helped millions who were displaced by Siad and his remnants. History...... Somaliland joins its brothers in the South a former Italian colony unconditional under the leadership of Mr. Haji Mohammed Ibrahim Egal. The delegations in Mogadishu answered to it brothers from the North by taking the post of President, Prime minister, and the capital was to be in Mogadishu while the brothers from the North had no conditions except the dream of greater Somalia. Mr. Haji Mohammed Ibrahim Egal (the late was offered the post of Defence Minister) which Mr. Egal accepted with the interest of Somalism at heart rather than complicating matters for the betterment of Somalia. The Great Somalia State that was yet to be achieved, comprissed of five states as shown on the Somalia flag, Blue and and Five stars on it, of which represents, the former Italian Somalia, Somaliland British proptectorate, French Djibouti, and the Northern Frontier District of Kenya (NFD) and the now Region Five District of Ethiopia (Ogaden) A few years after the unification between Somalia and Somaliland. "General" Said Barre came to power through the barrel of the gun, and totally deminishing the dream of a Great Somalia. And with Djibouti granted its indpendence from its colonial master France, and proclaimed itself as a self independent state, made the dream of Somalia Union more vivid than ever before. "Somalia" Under the ruthless leadership of dictator "General" Siad. had to seek for greener pastures. Barres immediate adventures led him towards the liberation of Ogaden. |

| We would by now like to bring back Mr. Cumar Faruuq Cismaaan of ruunkinet-website in to the present, with all his disinformations on where he got his statistics from as far as the relations between the North and the South Are concerned. Where did you get you statitics from? Since the central government was in Mogadishu, do you still have those facts? And where did you get the facts, which you mentioned on your articles on Somaliland? The missadministration of Somalia right after the Ogaden led the Somalis to mutiny against the central government in Mogadishu, with the Somali Socialist Democratic Front (SSDF) as a spearhead of the uprising. Barres administration answered it with an iron hand which claimed a lot of Somali lives, and forced a handful of Somalis into refugee in Ethiopia. My dear brother Cumar Faruuq Cismaan, of which I do not need to remind you. The fact that the same Somalis who fought against Ethiopia, were now seeking refugee into Ethiopia was inevitable . The Somali National Movement (SNM) emerged into the limelight with the ambition to liberate and restore stability up in the Northern Part of the former Somalia. At the same time the Siad Barres adminstration had a big number of army officers & soldiers stationed at the north. This army personels were to carry out all the massacares ,and most horrible acts that man could inflict on any human beings to his own somali brothers and sisters . When Gen Said Barre heard of this Movement in the north he and his collegues with the consent of the whole somali so called five star. Started Executing people systematicaly one after the other one. Well this went on and on and on and throughout all this time the whole somali community was concious of what was happening to their fellow somalis up in the north. Peace and Stability can not be acceived on the notion based on War In 1991 Somaliland reclaimed back it sovreingnty as the independent Republic of Somaliland in The town of Burco. Since 1991 Somaliland has gone through changes and acheived more as a people , a nation and a young African Republic. Somalilanders have proved to themselves above all that peace can only be acheived through justice ,equality and above all the respect of all human rights. And that peace can only be acheived through the ballot and not the bullet. In May 2001, Somaliland had its referrundum whereby the results did show ninety seven percent for an independent Republic of Somaliland. Three precent against. This dream of Somalia of which was to consist on the five Somali states today is more of an illusion rather than a reality . We would love to remind our brother Cumar Faruuq Cismaaan of these states once again. Djibouti ( a former French colony) somaliland ( a former British protectorate) somalia (a former Italian colony ) The northern Frontier District of kenya (a British colony part in Kenya) The Ogaden (a British protectorate in Ethiopia) These five were to be united if there was ever going to be something called "Somalia" that was what Somaliland had in mind when it joined its Somali brothers in the southern part who were an italian colony Well what happened right after Somalia /Somaliland united ? The dream of a united Somalia started fading away first by the loss of the Nothern frontier district to Kenya. Djibouti was not that ambitious of joining any union. Somalia under the ruthless leadership of Gen Siad Barre got desperate and started looking for more land and shortly after declares war against Ethiopia a country that had fifty million people . This War was the beginning of his downfall. And the dispute over who does the Ogaden province belong to was squared and the deal was in favour Of Ethiopia. These were the deeds of an evil and a ruthless somali leader that only led the united Somalia dream into its grave. A man shall be judged according to the content of his mind Mr. Cumar Faruuq Cismaaan of ruunkinet. Since 1991 Somaliland has had three different Presidents . Somaliland is a vibrant & a hardworking young nation. Somaliland has its constitution and functioning instutuitions . We are asking our fellow somali brothers to work hard and restore back peace and trust amongs the various groups that are into confict with one another in "Somalia". We also pray to God to help them regain peace in somalia. We wish them the best in whatever they do. Somalilands fate and destiny is into the peoples of Somalilands hands and its no longer your responsibility . Somaliland will never ever again put its peoples security in anybodys hands anymore . History is the best teacher brother . Today Somaliland is going to have its first general elections with multiparties in December 20003/Janaury 2003. A dream that so many African nations that have had independence for the past thirty years . possesed in such abundance. |
