Congolese president FA passed away

Thursday 25th December 2003
Mr Kurara Mpova Baudouin passed away this morning in Kinshasa the Capital of Congo DR after a brief illness. The Confederation of African football has sent a letter of condolence to the Congolese FA. CAF President, Issa Hatatou , currently in Banjul, was terribly shocked when he heard the sad news . Hayatou said that the late Kurara was dedicated sports official. I met Kurara about 10 days in Cairo particularly to attend the interclub preliminarie draw said Hayatou.Kurara Mpova Baudouin was born in February 1951 . He is survived by wife with 3 children. Kurara was elected Congolese FA president on 16 February 2001..

The list of five nominees for the best African player of the year was announced by CAF on 22 December 2003. The winner will be announced in January during the African Cup of Nations finals in Tunisia.

CAF referee course in Egypt

CAF referee course held in Cairo, Egypt ended on Tuesday 16 December 2003. The high level referee course, which was held from 11 to 16 December, was conducted by CAF and FIFA Zimbabwean referee instructor Frank Valdemarca was attended by 40 Egyptian referees and observers including retired Egyptian international referee Gamal Ghandour. One of the objectives of the course is to update the participants with the latest development in refereeing.CAF organises several referee courses and other football related courses and seminars for the promotion and development of African football.


Enyimba of Nigeria lift CAF Champions League 2003
Enyimba celebrates with the first ever Champions League Cup win for a Nigerian club

 

Enyimba defeated Ismaili with a 2-1 aggregate to win the Champions League title for the first time for Nigeria in the history of the competition. In the second leg match played on Friday 12th December, Ismaili won 1-0 through a penalty scored by Hosni Abd Rabo in the 27th minute of first half. The first leg ended 2-0 in favour of Enyimba of Nigeria in Aba.
