Birthday Wish: Part 6

Izzy opened her eyes and found Brian asleep next to her. She sighed, pain filling her eyes. She knew she couldn't leave him, but she couldn't stay and wait for the morning to come. She hated thinking about what would happen tomorrow. The feeling of saying goodbye then was far worse then saying goodbye now.

She got up and quickly put back on her thong. She put the rest of her clothes on and looked over at Brian's sleeping figure. One tear slid down her cheek as she looked at him.

"This is so wrong," she whispered. "I can't get up and leave him."

She turned away and carefully put on her ankle high boots. After she finished, she looked around the room, wanting to remember everything from the big TV in the middle, to the bathroom, to the clothes all around the floor, and finally her lover asleep in that big, warm bed.

She went over to Brian and leaned down over him. She gently brushed his hair from his forehead and placed a small, gentle kiss on it. She felt tears well in her eyes as she watched his chest rise and fall with every breath he took.

"Never forget me Brian," she whispered. "Even if you find someone else, never forget. I'll always be thinking of you. No matter where you are, or what you may be doing."

Izzy slowly got up, tears threatening to spill from her eyes, and walked over to the door. She gently opened it, making sure it wouldn't wake him up, and left. She turned to close the door behind her, making sure she shut it quietly. After she made sure it was shut, she turned around, not expecting to find Ali there as well, she jumped.

    "Izzy," Ali whispered uncertainly.

"Damn girl you scared me," Izzy told her. "What are you doing out here?"

"I should be asking you that same question."

"Oh Ali I can't stay here. I can't face what will happen once we were to have said goodbye to them. I hate the fact that I have to leave now."

Ali nodded. She knew how Izzy felt. It was the same feelings she was having about leaving AJ now, and why she can't face when they were all to wake up.

"I don't even want to think about when they wake up and realize that we are gone," Izzy continued. "They will hate us."

"No they won't. They will understand why we had to leave. They can't expect us to stick around and wait for the goodbye."

"Yeah true…" She looked over at Ali who was grinning at her.

"What? You look like a cat who just ate a canary."

"Oh Brian…..Brian….Brok," Ali softly exclaimed. She softly laughed as Izzy began blushing.

    "Omg you heard that?"

"Geez, I didn't know you would take my teasing so seriously!" Ali smirked at Izzy's discomfort.

"You are so not funny," Izzy muttered under her breath.

They both looked at each other, both faces full of sadness. Neither one wanted to be the first to walk across the room and open the door. It was hard enough leaving the individual rooms, but leaving the entire room was another thing.

    "Ali you go first."

"Why me?! It was hard enough leaving AJ's room."

"It was hard enough leaving Brian!"

Ali sighed. "If I walk outta the room first, I'm making sure you are right behind me." She grabbed onto Izzy's arm and gently led them both to the door. Her eyes welled up with tears as she opened the door. They both walked out the door and down the hallway to the elevator. Izzy pushed the down arrow and they both waited for the elevator to get to their floor.

"If that was so easy enough to do, how come it hurt so much to do it," Ali said aloud. "How come both of us had to fight over who would take the first step?"

"You know why. Neither one of us wanted to let go of tonight. We didn't want to open that door. It would have felt like we are really doing it. We are leaving them behind. We were really hoping the other would suggest that we go back into their rooms and go back to sleep."

"Deep down inside, I know you are right. I just wish my mind knew that."

The girls stepped inside the elevator when it came to their floor. Both were silent as they went down, thinking about what they did.

"You'd think we are going to a funeral," Izzy joked trying to make light of the situation.

Ali cracked a smile. "Leave it to you to think of something cute to say in a sad time such as this one."

"Well, all the silence was eating me up. Look I've even got holes starting to show." Izzy pretending to show Ali the holes from the supposed silence.

"Girl you should not have joined a strip club! You should join the circus. You'd look cute as a clown."

Izzy pretended to think that over. "I've got it! I can dress up like a clown on my next strip night!"

Ali laughed. The thought of Izzy dressed in big floppy shoes, off the wall colors, and wearing a big red nose, while taking it all off, was too funny to even imagine.

The elevator then landed at the lobby. The girls were brought back to the harsh reality that only a few more feet, and they were out of the hotel altogether. It frightened them that they were so close to leaving the two hottest, and caring men alive.

“You know…we aren’t really leaving because it’s just too hard to say goodbye,” Ali said after a moment of silence. “At least for me it’s not that.”

“Why is it then?” Ali looked at her sadly, her lower lip trembling a little.

“Because I can’t afford falling in love with him.”

Izzy was quiet for a moment. “I know that too. I know that is also why I left Brian. Who am I kidding? Saying goodbye will be harder in the morning. Yeah it would have been harder, especially since we would have fallen for them. Especially since we wouldn’t see them for... who knows how long .”

Ali nodded. Izzy walked first and pushed the hotel doors open, Ali following shortly behind her. They looked at each other once they were both outside and gave each other sad smiles.

    “It’s done.”

The girls started down the street, both lost in their own thoughts, Izzy stopped walking. Ali turned and looked at her.

    “What are you doing?”

Izzy looked up to what she guessed was Brian and AJ’s room. She gently blew a kiss up to it. Ali smiled sadly at Izzy and gazed up at the rooms one last time. They got onto the cab. Inside Izzy turned to Ali.

“Are we doing the right thing?” she asked unsure. Ali squeezed her hand and shook her head.

“No. But I can’t bring myself to look into his eyes without falling in love.” She gasped out and turned to the window.

Izzy nodded and turned to the hotel. Pressing her fingertips to the window of the car she sighed and felt a lonely tear fall.

    “Goodbye.”
