Chapter Eight

AJ rolled over in bed and stretched his arm, looking for Ali. All he met was the empty bed. His eyes flew open as he shot up in bed. She couldn’t have left him again, could she? He looked frantically around the room as he quickly got out of bed pulling his pants on. She wasn’t anywhere he looked. He sighed running his hands through his hair.
    “Ali?”
“Hmm?” came the reply from the arm chair facing the window. He sighed in relief as he walked in her direction. He looked at her sitting there with a cup of chocolate on her hand, watching the rain outside.
“What are you doing baby?” he said pulling lightly at her arm so she’d give him room. He sat down and pulled her on his lap. She mumbled something as she relaxed against his chest.
“What was that?” he asked softly kissing her shoulder.
“Nothing.” She murmured sipping her drink.
“Ali, I want to talk to you.”
“Shoot.” She said turning her head so she could see his face
“Do you regret anything that happened between us?” he asked looking into her eyes
“Yes.” She said turning on his lap, putting the cup aside, as a look of shock set on his face.
“Please don’t tell me last night was mistake Ali. I couldn’t take you leaving me again. Please don’t-”she shut him up with a kiss. Slowly she pulled apart as he stared at her.
“I don’t regret what happened last night. It wasn’t a mistake. It was the smartest thing I’ve ever done in my life.” She smiled down at his planting soft kisses on his face. He closed his eyes enjoying the feeling as his arms wrapped themselves around her waist.
“What I regret is ever leaving you the first night we met. I’ll never forgive myself for that.” She said resting her head on his shoulder
“Please do.” he said kissing her neck “I have.”
She looked up at him and smiled, kissing him softly. “Where do we go from here?” she asked hugging his body
“I don’t know. To wherever the future tells us to. I want to make this work Ali. Please tell me your willing to put up with being the girlfriend of a pop star.” He whispered against her mouth.
She smiled “Does that mean I’m you girlfriend?” he chuckled kissing her once again
“Well, if you don’t want to.” He said rolling his eyes
“Yeah, yeah. But seriously J. I am willing to do anything if it means I can be with you. I have this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach that I’m not sure if it’s love, but I sure would like to stick around to find out.”
He smiled at the girl in his arms, but soon the smiled turned into a frown. “There’s something you should know too.”
    “What’s that?”
“I’m going away on tour tomorrow night.”
    “Oh.”
“Yeah, but I don’t want that to be in our way. I promise I’ll call you every change I get and when you get away form school you can fly up to meet us and-” she again cut him off with a kiss. He chuckled as she pulled apart
“You enjoy doing that way too much.”
“You’re just irresistible like that. I am quite crushed you are leaving so soon, but I think if I lived 6 months of you hating me, I think I can live 3 months of you loving me from afar.” She smiled as he kissed her lips.
“What did I do to deserve you?”
“I think we kinda deserved each other.” She whispered laying her head on his shoulder again
“So Ali baby? What are you doing tonight?” he asked kissing her fingertips as a grin appeared on her face
“Hopefully you.” She murmured causing him to let out a laugh, kissing her lips.
Outside the rain had stopped, leaving the green grass wet, the flowers exhaling their perfume even more. The sky was clear and decorated by a rainbow.
