| The power of a promise!
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Joshua 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law.. turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. ( Now to confirm this from the New Testament ) 2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: ( that’s living for heaven and holiness my friend) 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Now those are promises we can count on! And oh what promises. When God makes a promise its as good as done. He keeps his word. Remember: “ he is not a man that he should lie” let God be true and every man a liar” Yeah many of us are use to hearing promises only to have them broken. A promise from the right source can give hope and encouragement, strength and comfort. But from the wrong source it can destroy and frustrate, hinder and harden hearts. The significance or relevance of a promise lies in the belief of that promise. In other words in order to see the promise come to pass you must exercise faith. (For those who demand scripture for that statement here it is.) Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. “ Heb 4:2 but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. The world is tired of broken promises. So much that people have become hardened and disillusioned, many live in a spirit of defeat and failure, compromise and complacency. Lies and deceit have become all to common, our world is being lulled into a deep slumber of compromise and slothfulness, unconcern and burdenlessness, people refuse to even try anymore, to even care anymore, to give anymore, to promise anymore. (Because people break promises to them they in turn break their promises to others, sounds reasonable I guess huh? even sounds fair huh?) Why? Because people have been broken by empty promises and lost dreams. Let down by leaders, daddy’s, politicians. and pastors. Our world is being deceived by the spirit of lust, promiscuity, idolatry, greed, drugs, and divorce, just to name a few. Sadly many folks are still sleeping in their sin and stuck on their padded pews. Sadly a little broken promise here and a little lie there is keeping some folks out of the Kingdom of God. (why I’ll never go to that Church again bunch of liars and hypocrites) Day in and day out they don’t seem to notice that darkness is closing in, its late in the mid night hour! And I fear some of us will be caught off guard and unaware. That the rapture of the Church is near. and that the judgment of God is about to fall! Here’s some scriptures to think about ! “ Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near.” “ now it is high time to awaken out of your slumber..” for the day of salvation is at hand” behold the night cometh..” Now with that in mind lets look at some promises from the good book. Maybe we can find some encouragement and hope for not only our present but our future.. John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. 23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hey don’t give up hold on! He’ll turn your situation around, he’ll change your pain to gain. your tears to triumph! Notice he said no man can take your joy! The joy of the Lord is your strength. your refuge! your fortress! Nothing can rob u of that promise, not divorce, not death, not discouragement. But there is a catch as long as you stay in the name! What’ s his name? John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Hey he said ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free and he whom the Son hath set free is free indeed!” Free! free from sin, from bondage, from bitterness, from anger, from fear, free from the idea you need another partner or another Church. The reason some folks can’t receive or even recognize this glorious truth is because they’re still stuck on the world. Still in the world living for their flesh, what they got inside them is not the Holy Ghost but the horny goat. John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Hey In case you forgot your heaven bound! Hell was once your past, present and future but HEAVEN IS NOW YOUR DESTINY! So quit hanging your heads low living in defeat and despair. “ You are more than conquerors your overcomers” John 11:25 Jesus said.. I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.. Hey not even death can steal your victory or your future. You belong to Jesus Christ and he said “nothing can pluck you out “of his hand. Notice it saids he is the resurrection and the life to those who believe? Deuteronomy 11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. Did you know that some folks make the choice for either blessing or cursing by their actions or inaction? by commission or omission. By doing or refusing to do? by going after other Gods. Hey on the other hand did you know your not promised tomorrow.... CLOSE: I’ll tell you what this world needs is a supernatural experience! a rebirth! a new birth! A shaking and an awakening, Hey we need to quit sitting on the premises and start standing on the promises! What this world needs is to realize that the promise has come! and has conquered! And the promise is alive! hey he lives! He’s resurrected in power and glory! promise and purpose! Hey if your feeling lonely and abandoned? There’s a promise for you! “ I will never leave you nor forsake you yea I am with you always even unto the end” Hey if your feeling sick in body? There’s a promise for you! “ by his stripes you are healed.. he was wounded for our transgressions..” is any among you sick let them call for the elders ..and the prayer of faith shall save the sick” (notice shall save not just heal) Hey if death is stalking you, scaring you? There’s a promise for you! “ to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”.. to live is Christ but to die is gain Hey if you fall and fail, mess up everything? There’s a promise for you! “ if we confess God is faithful and just to forgive..” “ a just man falls 7 times but rises again” Hey if you feel like your not going to make it? Hold on! There’s a promise for you! “ for the which cause I also suffer these things.. For I am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed unto him against that day” Now unto him that is able to present me faultless before the presence of his glory” Hey feel like your lost, losing direction, confused, don’t know which way to turn? At a loss for answers, Don’t know what to believe? There’s a promise for you! “ the steps of a good person are ordered of the Lord and he delights in his ways” but the Holy Ghost which is the comforter shall guide you and lead you in all truth” Sadly some people today will chose Hell over heaven without even knowing it until its to late? You see the promise of hell is just as real as the promise of heaven! Hell is hot! hell is real! hell is nearer than some think! Hell is torment like you never imagined! and it’s forever and ever and ever and ever! But there’s a promise! “ for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved’ ye must be born again” By: George R. Nava 2170 E.
