| Watch that Tsunami Jesus Matthew 8:18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. ( Hum anybody ever notice that Jesus sees everything, even when we seem so surrounded by people, things or troubles. When we think amidst the 1,000‘s of others who are struggling. That there’s no way anybody can even see or notice our struggles and problems...Jesus does!) 19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. ( Now isn’t that like some of us we claim we will follow him anywhere. But once it appears he has nothing to offer us. We go the other way or find excuses not to follow after all) 23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: else we perish. 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! Reflections: Hum...Lets take another look at this story again. Jesus always and ever aware and of what takes place around him. “His eyes are on the sparrow “how much more are they on you his lovely lowly child. Come what may, hell or high water, he is on the watch, on guard, and ever ready to rescue you. Ah but some of you noticed vs. 24 “ he was asleep” Yes while the storm raged he slept or so it seemed.. So some of you say see he was asleep so how can he be aware then? Ah but you see he had a purpose for the storm, some of you didn’t notice that did you? There are a few things we should take note of here in this story if we are to grasp the full implications and meaning behind it. For one if anyone were to remember in one of the other gospels. It states that Jesus said “ we must needs go to the other side” cuz you see he was on a mission, to bring deliverance to a demon possessed man. But that’s another story. In any case back to his purpose for allowing the storm to rage as it did. For one he wanted the disciples to know who was really in charge here. You see the storm may have been the work of the enemy Satan But God was still in control and here’s the catch he’s in control even when it seems he is asleep. The lesson here for us is this, even when it seems Jesus is not aware or around, asleep or busy, he still has our situation or problems under control. Yes the storms may rage and the tempest may beat against us vehemently. But we are not alone nor without hope. I guess what he’s trying to say is that yes you can even have peace in the mist of your trials.. And you know what else, with Jesus you can even sleep thru them .. Now back to the other purpose. It was to build their faith and get them to realize and recognize that this Jesus whom they served. Was both Lord and creator, God and Man and he was and is supreme over all things. And that even the natural and supernatural realm was still subject to his power, will and control. After all he was the creator in the beginning who spoke them into existence. Another lesson here for us. Maybe just maybe that storm your encountering, that tempest that is raging against you from all hell it seems. It just might have a hidden purpose in it? Where is your faith? where is your God? hum.. Who is your God for that matter? Are you are a mission for God that the enemy is wanting to hinder? praying for some souls lately? Hey lets not forget even the creation has to obey his voice, Wow did anybody catch that? Hey if even the winds, the storms, the moon, the sun and the animals must obey and do his will. How much more should we as human beings created in his image do his will. Maybe in comparison to the natural realm he has a difficult time getting our attention and obedience. Hum... could be a good reason to send a storm or two my way if you ask me.. A PRAYER: Dear father, Lord Jesus. The almighty creator. I realize that many are the times when I look at the storms and tempest of life. And as a consequence many are the times that I lose my sight and my purpose. My faith and my vision. Father forgive me for the times when I fail you, when I am faithless, when I asleep while the storms rage in another persons life and I should be about my fathers business. Forgive me for doubting you and your promises. Help me to recognize that you are still Lord and God over all. That when the storms come my way that maybe they to have a purpose. Remind me daily that “the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy but you have come that I may have life and life abundantly” Thank you Daddy for your love and concern, for your protection and provision. And last but not the least father help me to be more sensitive to your voice and your leading. To the storms and tempest that rage in other peoples lives. Help them to keep the faith, to stay strong, to fight the good fight of faith. Amen.. Oh I love you so much daddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy |
