| 10-22-07 "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted" (Mat_5:4). Mourning is hateful and irksome to poor human nature: from suffering and sadness our spirits instinctively shrink. It is natural for us to seek the society of the cheerful and joyous. The verse now before us presents an anomaly to the unregenerate, yet is it sweet music to the ears of God’s elect: if "blessed" why do they "mourn"? If they mourn, how can they be blessed? Only the child of God has the key to this paradox, for "happy are they who sorrow" is at complete variance with the world’s logic. Men have, in all places and in all ages, deemed the prosperous and the gay to be the happy ones, but Christ pronounces blessed those who are poor in spirit and who mourn. some1caresforu (9/23/2007 1:10:35 PM): HUM...INTERESTING THOUGHT TO SAY THE LEAST. HOW IS IT WE CAN FIND HOPE AND COMFORT, JOY, PEACE AND HAPPINESS IN THE MIST OF OUR TROUBLES. Ah well u see thats where Jesus comes in and thats what he specializes in, He's a healer and comforter, if u dont know him personally. Then thats why u fail to feel his joy and comfort. You see many times in life we feel hurt, neglected, rejected, used. And many times in life we go through these experiences and similiar, due to our own mistakes, failures and faults. However or whatever the reason, sometimes life just seems to hand us a bad apple or experience, Its part of life, but in the mist of all that, there is still HOPE! Comfort! PEACE! But did anybody notice the catch phrase " blessed are they that mourn? For they shall be comforted" Now thats a promise! However the greek word used for mourning here implies a Godly sorrow or regret, a deep sincere concern for ones actions or circumstance. Hence many times we dont feel or find any comfort not because God isn't there or doesn't care. But because we have not truly felt any sorrow for what we have done or did. Even if we are at fault God offers comfort, forgivness and rest. Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Mat_11:28) " if we confess he is faithful and just to forgive" In other words whatever you find urself going thru this day, I want to encourage you to hold on and keep ur head up high. Get it right with God. Things will change, get better, and the (Son) sun will shine again! |
