| Bible Study: “The question why?”
Prepared by: George R. Nava Scripture reading: Psalms 22:1-10, Psalms 13:1-6, Rom 8:1-39 Isn’t it just like our world to always question? and demand answers? to doubt? rather than trust, we often ask the question why? rather than seeing the possible & positive in our problems & circumstances including the probable rewards & benefits from our troubles or situations, indeed difficult and trying times in our life can and should be productive rather than destructive, if we learn to allow God to have his way in our lives, realizing that some situations are used to mold and shape us to become more like him, more useful to him, and to build our faith, so we can believe for greater things , and see greater things in God. (think) while the world may question why, we should instead trust, thank, and praise him despite our circumstances. ( NOW LETS LOOK AT SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE TEND TO ASK GOD AT TIMES ) 1. Why do bad things happen to good people? well there’s a big flaw in that statement already? you see the bible says that there is not one good person, “there are none righteous no not none, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God“(Rom 3:10-12,20-23, read ) so we can clearly see that the assumption that there are any good people without sin is a not so, buts lets just ask why anyway? So why do bad things happen to nice people? ever wonder why people question rather than trust? again lets go to scripture (Rom 8:7, 18, 28-31,35-39) A. vs. 7, since the carnal, evil, ungrateful, doubting, selfish mind etc,( you get the picture?) is at odds with God? we therefore live in a world that is influenced by that evil mindset hence we are also subject to its consequences! God is not going to go around stopping every evil situation that arises that’s why he has empowered us with his authority and presence ( the Holy Spirit) the question is are you walking in that authority? or in the flesh? hello... (read Galatians 6: 7-8) “ be not deceived God is not mocked for whatsoever a man does that shall he reap.. for he that sows to the flesh..“ (if u live in the selfish, ungodly, ungrateful, uncaring mindset u will reap its results, disease, despair, misery & shame just to mention a few)Paul said “ none of these things move me, nothing shall separate me from ..God.. vs. 35-39 B. vs. 18, remember vs. 18 says there’s a reward awaiting you that doesn’t compare to your temporal situation! but you have to have a made up mind. sometimes we have to learn to do a comparison, basically do your math KNOW GOD KNOW PEACE! no God no peace! choose for yourself, god rewards us with life, Satan with death, god gives hopes the devil takes hope.. “ For the devil comes not but for to steal, kill and destroy “ 1 Peter 5:9 but God came that we might have abundant life! Joy! hope! health! Fun! yes fun cause living for God is not suppose to be a dead, dry, dull experience! if its like that for u, better check ur heart and priorities, ur relationship loyalties? what is more important and who is more important to u? C. vs. 28-31, you see not all things have worked out yet, time is the important factor here quit looking at things from the human perspective? see the temporal vs. the eternal! its says to them who are the called, to them that love God? where’s ur proof of love? according to his purpose not yours? who’s calling the shots? who are you conforming to or like? what is your destiny? what u believe determines what u do, what u do determines your destiny! notice: what you do not what happens to you? not what ur going thru? Trust is the determining factor.. stop feeling like, because: everyone seems to hates u & nothing ever goes right for u, that only bad things always happen to you, and that this means God don’t care nor likes u, or that these bad things mean ur going to hell not heaven, or that ur not really a Christian that’s why all these things happen to you? its a lie! ur heaven bound! claim it! 2. Why do good people die? why do some die early? why do we get sick? again lets go to scripture, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” ” to live is Christ but to die is gain” oh death where is thy sting? oh grave where is thy victory?..” 1 Corinthians 15: 51-58 and Isaiah 57- “ the righteous perish.. and none layeth it to heart: merciful men are taken to spare them from the evil to come.. Death is only an illusion, its a passing thru, for we each have an eternal soul, that presently is restrained by this body of flesh? and no flesh can see God? if you only knew how much he longs to see you! ..” precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of his saints” ever wondered why it says that? death hurts but is it suppose to? again its a matter of perspective! even sickness can bring glory to God! ever thought that maybe an early death may have come before someone lost out on God? or walked away from God thus losing eternal life with him? maybe without that sickness we wouldn’t really serve God? trust in God? call on God? remember sickness is only temporal as is death? but some of us have forgotten the fine act of repentance! “ for God is faithful and just to forgive if we confess” 3. Why doesn’t he answer my prayers? “..if we ask anything according to his will, believing. then we know he hears us and if he hears us then we know we have what we ask of him..” are we asking selfishly, enviously, proudly or impurely? are we believing or doubting? again see beyond the temporal into the eternal! don’t expect an answer according to your human understanding and ability to figure things out ( lean not unto thy own understanding but in all thy ways acknowledge him)? step back and take a look at the big picture! get a godly perspective. perhaps there was an eternal healing in heaven? perhaps a hidden lesson or reward? perhaps a warning or protective restraint to keep us from danger, or because sometimes its the trials that keep us in line? or another reason? perhaps maybe an answer like we desire would eventually be harmful rather than beneficial? are you wanting to bless others thru ur prayer request, or just yourself?
