The story of a neglected and physically abused junior high school student named Robert who finds healing through his grandmother and new levels of acceptance and learning through a teacher of dynamic qualities. Robert expresses and understands the world around him through art, eventually helping bring closure to his troubled past. This story is for parents, teachers, administrators, and students alike - anyone who values education and the impact it can hold. The lessons in the book are based upon real-life observations of a multi-award winning teacher, as well as the author's own experiences within public and charter schools. The novel stresses the importance of human connections through art, as well as all experiences that bond us together as human beings. The story presents the kind of education needed in today's technological and sometimes isolating world. The main character in the story is an amalgam of students present in every classroom, struggling with many concerns the educational world must address.

About the Author:
Chris Duschik was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1968. In 1978 Chris moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he still resides today. He began his education by obtaining an Associate of Arts Degree. He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development/Family Studies from Arizona State University. During his coursework in Developmental Psychology, Chris worked as a Teacher's assistant at the Child Study Lab Preschool on the Campus of A.S.U. This prompted him to move on to a post-bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. It was during his student teaching experience that he worked with a highly acclaimed teacher named David Spencer, who was the inspiration for this book. Chris has four years teaching experience, spanning grades 1-3. The author enjoys the arts and is an Independent film buff. He is married and has three children.
