Eilidh Patterson

There is something new in the Derry air – a fresh musical talent from the North’s “Music City”.  Her name is Eilidh Patterson, 24 years old and an accomplished singer/songwriter influenced by a combination of folk, country, gospel and bluegrass music.

Her’s is a unique talent, both as writer and singer, the lyrics of each song bringing a message as passionate and fresh as the vocals.“Eilidh has a voice as clear as the frosty night air and her self-penned songs suggest a maturity beyond her years. Brilliant.” (“Maverick” Magazine).  Her self-accompaniment on guitar is in a similar class – clean, and superbly complementing the moods of each song.  Eilidh (pronounced I-lee) has a solid background of musical training – some of it in Nashville, TN – and this is evident in the quality of each performance.

Recent months have seen her supporting artists such as Bap Kennedy, Gretchen Peters, John Spillane and Liam O’Maonlai, or playing “live” on the BBC’s Radio Foyle and Radio Ulster.

Now based in Belfast, she is currently preparing material for her debut album.  This follows universal acclaim for her first 3-track demo which has had extensive air-play locally, nationally and even as far as New York. Her recent performance at the "Great War Remembered" Concert, where she sang the classic "Roses of Picardy" and the popular contemporary song "John Condon" with an elegance and a passion that compared to any of the female 'greats' - June Tabor included, who have graced Flanders over the past ten years. Connections are hoping that, despite her other music committments, Eilidh Patterson will return to Flanders next year.
