Set after the Sonic Heroes story, Shadow is caught in the middle of a raging war between the G.U.N. organization, the evil Dr. Eggman, and a mysterious race of aliens.

Blast through more than fifty action packed missions as your favorite renegade hedgehog, Shadow, with breakneck speed! Also, during pivotal points in the game, your actions will either tip the scale in favor of evil, or to the side of good. Ultimately, Shadow's fate is in your hands, depending on one of the multiple endings you chose.

In previous Sonic games, the real enemy was the environment, forcing players to concentrate on well-timed jumps and some fancy footwork. Shadow the Hedgehog on the other hand, focuses more on combat. The developers are tightening the mechanics, even giving Shadow the ability to strafe! Unlike the recent multi-character Sonic games, this time around you're flying solo. Though chances are, Sonic and the gang will make some appearances.

Compared to other Sonic games, narrative plays a much larger role so that the player may delve in the depths of Shadow's mysterious past. Is he an android created by Dr. Eggman? The original Shadow suffering from amnesia? Or perhaps a darker, more sinister secret just waiting to be solved?

We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

Most of you are probably wondering 'Why does Shadow have a gun?' Well that's just the gist of it. According to Takashi Iizuka, an employee at SEGA, who has worked on such titles as Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Nights in to Dreams and Sonic Heroes,

"...Weapons are just one component of the entire game that is new to gamers familiar with the Sonic-Based games. And guns are just one type weapon-we have gadgets, alien weapons, and even environment objects like poles, sticks and debris can be utilized. We have over 30 different weapons and items plus a variety of vehicles you'll be able to commandeer."

You've heard it here. Over 30 different kinds of weapons and items! In addition, there's vehicles you can use!
