Language Structure: Past Tenses - Simple past verb forms (state, possessive, action, interrogative, negative); active and passive voices; punctuation – capital and small letters, full stops, commas, question marks, exclamation marks; word classes – nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, pronouns & their forms; sentences.

Reading, Comprehension & Summary: predicting, inference, guessing the meanings of unseen words, scanning, skimming, linking words, ‘sign posts’, main points and examples, flesh and bones’.

Writing : Narratives, Personal letter, imaginative writing.

SEBD4 Units: Younger Days, What’s in a Name? Spine Chillers.

Adverbs, Conjunctions, Subject-verb agreements, Word Sets, Main & Auxiliary verbs, Past continuous Vs. Past simple tenses, Character Adjectives, Compound words, Present Perfect vs. Past tenses.

Reading, Comprehension & Summary: Meaning from context clues, Scanning, Skimming, Prediction, References, Main points and details, Finding relevant information.

Writing : Description, Newspaper reports, Narrative writing.

Term 3: June 30 - September 4

Language Structure: Present Continuous Tenses, Past Perfect Vs Past Simple, Verbs for future, Prepositions of Place and of time, Suffixes and Adjectives, Prefixes, Word formation.

Reading, Comprehension & Summary: Previous knowledge of a topic, Literal inference and Evaluation, Brief answers and Reorganization, One word for Several, Sequential Order of Events, Generalization, Identification & Use of Topic Sentences.

Writing: Planning & Sequence of Paragraphs, Drafting, Basic Information, Using senses, Incidents, Characters, Structuring Ideas, Quotations, Gathering & Organizing Information, Introductory questions, Improving on drafts.

Language Structure: Adjectives with Attitude, Noun-forming suffixes, Passives, Words of movement and speaking, Modal verbs, Fire words, Adverbs & Intensifiers, Countable and Uncountable nouns, Modal Verbs.

Reading, Comprehension & Summary: Social history, Finding meaning from context, Using the right word class, Comparing & Contrasting, Dealing with direct speech, Specific information, General information, Changing the point of view, Relevant main points.

Writing : Structure of a story, Direct speech, Reporting verb in the middle of a sentence, A memorable event, Eye–witness report, Brain–storming and Planning, Drafting and Checking.

Writing: Punctuation marks, Picture composition, Writing from Newsflash, Letters of advice.
