The nurses directed them to the room Fei and Fuo were in. Quay, Chun-On and Ho-Ying immediately ran to Fei. Suet was holding Lan-Yee's hands. She saw Fei but wondered where Fuo was. She turned to her side to see a body covered up by a blanket on the hospital bed. Tears streamed down her face as she knew it was Fuo's body. She bent down and held his hands. The warmth of his hands gone, she pressed it against her face to feel his last touch. She didn't know what had happened.
The Kwok's worker, Lu-Khan explained what happened and Suet's was in shock and overwhelmed with self blame. She closed her eyes and squeezed her forehead with the palm of her hands. A migraine was overwhelming her. Quay stood up from her husband's side with a solemn expression. Fei had not said anything to her. She felt much pain seeing Fei in this mental state. She pulled Suet over to one side of the room and without any warning slapped Suet brutally across the face.
Suet was thrown another shock. "It's all because of you! They wouldn't have been fighting if it wasn't for you! Fuo's death is your fault! What did I ever do to you! Why must you treat me like this?" Quay shouted again pounding against Suet. Suet couldn't move and was struck many times by Quay. She didn't know what to do or say. She blamed herself and huddled herself on the floor crying.
Lan-Yee, Chun-On, and Ho-Ying all stood there watching. They were scared and Chun-on was holding them. They couldn't believed that Suet was the cause for all this but after hearing everything they thought she might be since she didn't defend herself.
Quay finally walked to Fei and caressed his shoulders. "It'll be okay honey, it'll be okay." She said as she assisted him to stand up. She ordered Lu-Khan to take care of hospital fees and funeral arrangements then looked at Chun-on and Ho-Ying. "Let's go."
Chun-On looked at Lan-Yee. "How about Lan-Yee?" Chun-On asked. Quay pulled on her son. "I said let's go!" she said sternly. Ho-Ying followed her mother out and Chun-on held Lan-Yee's hand as they walked to the door of the room. Then he left with his mother.
Lan-Yee looked at Suet who was now crawling to Fuo's body. She kneeled against the bedside. I"'m sorry." She stuttered as she lay on his body crying. Lan-Yee didn't know what to think about Suet at that moment. Lan-Yee had been raised by Suet all her life and never saw Suet cry or stand there for someone to yell at. She wondered if Suet did cause all this. That day her impression of Suet became very confusing to her. She didn't know what she really felt about this woman, her mother she would never know

Back at the Kwok residence, Quay bathed her husband who was still too shock to move. He didn't say anything and he didn't move. Quay was worried and called a doctor. The doctor said he was just seriously shocked by his brother's death so Quay took care of him.
A few days later Suet showed up with Lan-Yee at the Kwok's house. She wanted to visit Fei and see how he was doing since he was her best friend. Quay let her into the house but only to insult her again. Quay walked down the stairway giving Suet an evil look. "So you've come here for punishment again."
"Quay please let me see if Fei is okay, maybe he can explain more to me about what actually happened." she said. Quay chuckled meanacingly. "Explain to you? Why should he after everything you've done. You always wanted to ruin my life, first with Phong and now with Fei. You were even willing to use Fuo to get what you wanted. But luckily heaven has eyes and your evil plans never worked."
Suet shook her head. "Cousin, what are you talking about?" she asked. Quay smirked at her. "But poor sad pitiful Fuo was mesmerized by your charm and fell into your trap." Quay said as anger had consumed her rational thinking.
Suet shook her head. "Quay please just let me see Fei and I'll leave. There is no need for you to mock me and harass me like this." Quay came closer to Suet. "I'm harassing you, look what you've done, and you still dare to bring that little one into this household." Quay said looking at Lan-yee. Lan-Yee pulled from her mother's hand. She felt strange holding Suet's hand after Quay's comment. She didn't know if it was because she also believed that Suet was bad or if she was afraid of Quay.
Suet felt the hand release but didn't think too much of it at the moment. She needed to see Fei. "If you don't let me see him, I'll just go upstairs myself." Suet said barging up the stairs. She walked into Fei's room and found him sitting on the floor next to the sofa with his head on the coffee table. She looked at Quay. "Why is he on the floor?"
"I didn't put him there!" Quay said running to her husband. "He probably fell down or something she said straightening him on the sofa. "What's it to you anyways, he's my husband. You don't belong here. Get out!" she screamed.
Suet insisted on coming in and walked right by Quay. Quay pulled her and tried to slap her but was immediately stopped by Fei. "You should know better who was responsible for this!" he said angrily. Quay was happy that Fei was responsive agian but stunned at the first thing he said to her in days. "What do you mean by that?" Quay asked astonished that he helped Suet.
"You told him that Lan-Yee was my child. You embedded hatred of me and Suet into his mind!" Fei screamed angrily at Quay. "You evil woman you, how I wish I could just strangle you." He said coming closer to Quay.
Suet stopped him. "She's still your wife no matter what she has done you can't treat her this way." she said protecting her couisn. Fei glared at her. "Get out of my way!" he shouted angrily. "You and her! All of you out of my face before I strangle all of you!" he shouted angrily. He was mad at all of them and himsef. "You! Her! Me! We all caused my brother to die. She caused him to misunderstand me all these years!" he said approaching both of them.
She shook her head chuckling as she came closer to him. "I didn't misunderstand! You're Lan-Yee's father? It can't be Fuo's child or even that Japanese solider you made up!" she yelled harshly,
"Lan-Yee is Phong's child!" Suet said angrily after hearing all these different sides of the argument. She wanted everything cleared up after all these years. Quay turned to her. "What!" Quay asked in shock. She was confused. She felt guilty, she felt wrong. But worst yet she felt even more angry now. "How dare you have a child with Phong!" she screamed coming closer to Suet.
The two women looked at each other angrily. They both understood that their hearts were now fixated on Phong and the feelings they never lost for him. Their hearts beat faster and their stares became wilder. Again Quay slapped Suet across the face. This time Fei was not able to stop Quay. "Get out of my face!" she yelled at Suet.
"Did you not realize what you did?" Fei said yelling at Quay. "You indirectly dumped Phong, he has the right to have a child with any woman he chooses." he reminded her.
"Any woman but Suet, Phong always loved me! Lan-Yee should be my child with Phong not hers." Quay screamed. In a breath of rashness Quay said the one thing that she shouldn't have said. She had declared her love for a man that wasn't her husband.
Fei was angered by it but he realized that it was all his doing. Quay had always loved Phong more than him. His love for Suet caused him to marry such a selfish and insane woman. He blamed himself for everything that happened. He sat down on a chair and once again did not speak.
Quay shook her head as tears came down her face. She never wanted to say anything like that. Her heart beat faster; her nerves ran up and down her spine. She was afraid, afraid of losing two people that were very dear to her; very important to her, her husband Fei and cousin, Suet.
Suet was worried about everything. She felt wrong about everything. She wanted to leave. She wanted to take everything with her; the pain, the misunderstanding, the jealousy, the hatred. But she knew she couldn?t just get away. But she didn?t want to stay. She couldn?t face Quay or Fei any longer. She opened the door ran down the stairway and into the living room as she grabbed Lan-Yee and ran back

For the next few months, Fei couldn't face Quay the more he saw her. He was sick of his life. He wanted to leave his marriage with Quay. He packed up his belongings and decided to leave for Hong Kong. He couldn't stand being married to a woman who never loved him. He wanted to take his children with him but knew she wouldn't allow it. So he planned to take them in the middle of the night without her knowing.
"Why are we leaving so late at night?" Ho-Ying asked her father. Chun-On was also curious. "Where's mommy?" Chun-On asked. Fei looked back at his mansion. "We're going first and mommy will come later, Now hurry up and get in the car." He whispered.
Quay couldn't sleep and she heard them, so she quickly followed him. Half way into the car Ho-Ying ran out and ran towards her mother. Quay embraced Ho-Ying into her arms. She stood up holding Ho-Ying and looked nervously at Fei. "Where are you going so late in the night?" she asked him. Fei didn't reply to her. Instead he motioned Chun-On to leave the car. "We'll go another day, its getting late now." He said walking back into the house with Chun-On.
Quay took a deep breath. She knew Fei was going to try to leave again so she tried to stay very close to him. She followed his every move. She became so scared and suspicious. She knew Fei would not leave his children behind so she stay with them constantly.
Finally one fateful day would have it. Fei successfully got a hold of Ho-Ying and Chun-on without Quay knowing. He quickly put them into his car and drove quickly towards the train station. But half way there near the river, he got a flat tire so he went to fix it. They were near the large river so Fei kept the children in the car. Quay had followed him and chose this moment to stop him. "Why must you leave me?" Quay asked. Am I really that hateful?" Quay pleaded.
Fei stood up and patted his soiled hands against his shirt. "I don't hate you? I just can't accept you. It's very difficult to forgive you or even to forgive myself." He said. "This marriage started all wrong. Let's just end this mistake." he pleaded.
"I know you're angry with me." Quay cried. "But please forgive me. I will do anything to make this right. I will do whatever it takes to correct this wrong! Don't leave me" she begged. Him and their children was her life, her breath. She couldn't lose them.
Fei coldly replied, "You can keep everything. The house, the car, the business, and especially the money. Just let me and the kids go." She shookher head. "I don't want anything else, just you. As long as I have you. Please don't go!" she begged. He finished changing the tire and started to walk back to the car. Quay refused to let him go. She grabbed him. He pushed her grip off him.
They struggled and Quay almost fell down the edge of the river but Fei pulled her back and instead he fell into it. Quay tried to reach for him but her arms were too short and she couldn't swim. He reached for her but the current was too strong and soon he was washed away by the current. Quay went hysteric and notified the police to help her look for him but no one found him.
Quay even called Suet to come help her. Suet took no time and was there within minutes. Everyone searched through the river for Fei but no one found his body. Police officers insisted the current pulled away his body. Quay was terrified. She never wanted this to happen. She just didn't want him to leave her. She cried on Suet's shoulders.
For the next few days Suet was occupied with running errands for Quay and her own parent's health. Her father, Chiang Luo Kan was diagnosed with lung cancer. His health was immediately deteriorating. Doctors said he only had two months to live. This really devastated Suet and Wei Bing, her mother.
Two weeks after the incident, police found Fei's body at the edge of the river. Quay and Suet went to identify the body and sure enough it was Fei. Both women were devastated.. Quay cried crazily while Suet wept silently. Quay became hysteric and miserable so Suet became responsible for all the funeral arrangements. She did all she could to help. She knew that Quay would probably be too grief struck at the moment and needed all the help she could.
Suet was so tired and disheartened now. From Fuo's funeral to Fei's funeral and now her own father was dying of cancer. She couldn't take this any longer. This life was filled with so much hardship. She only wanted to love and be loved. She never wanted any of this in her life. It was all her mistake. She had made all the wrong choices, leading her and Quay now to this position in life. She blamed herself for all the hardship and pain.
Quay blamed herself feeling that she had caused all this and apologized to Suet. She realized that she had been a horrible wife and Fei had always been sweet and loving to her. She finally realized that she drove him away and it was her that caused the downfall of their marriage. All she had now was Suet and her kids.
Quay invited Suet to move into the Kwok residence with her and help her at the bank since Suet knew more than she did. Suet agreed to help her cousin. With everything that was going on they didn't have time for anger or hatred towards each other. Only one thing remained in their hearts and that was that they needed each other to stay sane in a world that was coming apart.
Suet close ddown her orphanage and Lan-Yee moved into the Kwok residence with her. Quay and Fei's two kids, Chun-On and Ho-Ying grew up with Lan-Yee. The three became best friends. Chun-On and Lan-Yee were both 11 and Ho-Ying was 9. +:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:+ +:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:+ |
