my own soul,
I saw the caverns
the crevices
and the dark caves
with hidden secrets.
I find myself staring
at the emotions
that swirl in my heart
that temper my soul
and shape what few people
can see playing in my eyes
I find myself looking into
what is yet undiscovered
of my soul,
the patience
the guidance that
pushes at the walls
of my very being.
I find myself silencing
as my heart beats against
the walls of my chest
bursting to be released
from its painful cage
from its prison of hope and fear.
I find myself remembering
my humanity
my abilities
my vulnerabilities
and my defeats
I find myself looking into
my very being
my soul
my darkness
my very heart
the world I know.
Ok, people have been asking where the title came from. The title 'Five Words of Inspiration' is about the first line. At one of the local writers groups,our writing activity one night involved writing about anything those five words inspired, I had no Idea for another title for the poem.
