mbryo promotions was set up in July 2000 in Liverpool by Russell Tagoe as a company designed to help up and coming artistes realise their goals and point them in the right direction.

Soul in the city is part of mbryo promotions which brings together amateur performers from all over the city, and in the future from all over the country, who perform either soul, r&b, rap or dance music to a professional standard. We are currently the only company in the whole of the north west that perform this type of show live, the old way, in theatres and music halls with the whole of the audience seated. There is nowhere else in the country that we can think of that performs this type of music in this way, our argument is you can go along to practically any pub, bistro or club in the country to watch indie or rock bands live but there has been nowhere as far as we know for r&b until now.

Soul in the city is designed to help up & coming artistes of all nationalities to gain exposure & notability in the world of music. There is a mass of raw talent in Liverpool & other cities who are like closet performers that need to be pointed in the right direction with some guidance. What we offer them is to become part of a community of performing artistes who come together and help one another to enhance their talents and work towards performing together live concerts professionally in front of large audiences.

Soul in the city doesn't promise to make anyone a superstar but by trying our best and working together as a performing community, along the way you never know what might happen.

Soul in the city had it's first amateur night on 07:11:00 at the Neptune theatre Liverpool along with thirteen acts performing r&b, rap or soul. We also had mbryo's own dancers performing four dance routines, the whole evening was a massive success with audience participation, standing ovations, and a huge cheer when we mentioned that we would be returning in the new year with our next show, which is a tribute to Motown and the Motown era on 20:03:01 at the Neptune theatre Liverpool, this show is a must for all Motown fans one not to be missed.
