They imprisoned them in acrylic cases dispayed so voguely in their living rooms, providing their egos with the remote and sterile sense of connection with this mysterious and overpowering phenomena called music.
They were engineers, doctors, laywers, celebreties and businessmen, whom on one hand admired musicians and were amazed at their mysterious abilities to create these wonderful sounds and tones, reaching deep into the emotions of people's hearts and souls. On the other hand, they loath and envy the creature "Musician" for his slothfulness and tenatious irresponsibilty. The minstrel torturously reminds them of how they are bound to their world of constant function of necessity, which is the antithesis of music.
We poor and starving musicians had to stand by and watch as the precious tools of our industry were taken from our financial reach.This did however force the prolification of hundreds of guitar manufacturers. Until the 1980's there were basically only two major mass manufacturers making popular guitars for the current rock market (Fender and Gibson).
This is why I have such a special love for the vintage guitars of the early and mid rock era. As I can afford, I search for and buy these gems as opportunity allows.
A few of the guitars shown above are guitar models that I've owned years ago, and have managed to buy again...Who knows...someday I may may be able to afford a Les Paul again! - JS
