In The Headlights, a regular column by Fiona Krisch, is the South African lifestyle as seen from her perspective.
Fiona Krisch is an artist and writer based in Johannesburg. Her creative talents are as varied and as perfect as the colours in a rainbow. Her writing is also diversified - she writes anything from non-fiction to fiction to poetry. In addition to the column she writes for this webpage, she is currently working on two works of fiction - one is a joint project with another writer, and the other is a sweeping fantasy novel. This multi-talented lady thrives on creativity. She has said that if she cannot draw, write, sew or create, she will wither away. Being creative is the way she expresses herself. Whether it's sewing, writing, sketching or lugging wheelbarrows of cement to self-renovate her house, she is driven by a need to produce works of art in all aspects of her life, and each craft helps her to maintain balance of mind and body. Fiona was taught how to watch and observe through her art studies - it is a skill that is vital to writing and it has benefitted her in her other creative interests as well. Her writing is clear and concise, beautifully crafted and a joy to read - she is somewhat of a perfectionist and continously hones her writing skills, as well as skills of other various crafts. As a child, Fiona used to "write" stories in her mind, but it was only much later on in life that she discovered that she was able to transfer these "mind movies" to written words. She is inquisitive about life and just as she has a wide interest in arts and crafts, she has an impressive general knowledge and her non-creative interests range from sport and dancing to reading and watching movies. S.A. Writers is proud that she is part of our team of writers. This is one lady who will go far in life. Click her to visit her website
