School

Sung to the tune of American Pie

This song is almost finnished. I need to put an ending, but that's it. Please note: This song is based on the Quebec school system, where grade 6 is the end of elementary school, and grade 7 is the beginning of high school.

Intro:

A long, long time ago,
I can still remember when school was just a real fun place.
And every day that came along
We would have a sing-along
Or maybe we would do some arts and crafts.
Kindergaden was the grade
And all we did was played and played.
Homework we did not get;
That could be a sure bet.
We did not have desks or books,
All we had were some coat hooks.
Ah, those were the good old years,
In the school system.

Chorus:

Oh dear, here are my fears:
Time after time, and year after year
Just like a curse,
It keeps getting worse.
Soon again it will be the fall,
This may be the worst year of all.

Verse 1:

I'm going into grade one,
And I just want to have some fun,
But that's not what we seem to do.
They're teaching us math and things,
We have to add instead of sing.
And we have to sit at these desks.

Well this will absolutely not do,
And I don't want to think about grade two,
'Cause that's the year that's born
Work to do at home.
Grade two has just come and gone,
I want to go back to grade one.
I realize now, it wasn't so bad
In the school system.

Chorus

Verse 2:

I'm tembling on my knees,
'Cause I have to go into grade three,
And that's not where I want to be.
The work load is so great,
But here's the thing I really hate
They have given us week-long assignments.

Grades three and four have passed me by
And now I'm going into grade five.
The work they want us to do
It just cannot be true.
Every day there's more and more
I want things like they were before.
But I know that I can't go back
In the school system

Chorus

Verse 3:

Well now I am in grade six
And I just watch as that clock ticks
'Cause I don't want to be here.
Beacause I'm oldest in the school,
It diesn't mean that we rule.
It just means we get more work.

Well I've graduated elementary,
But high schools not the thing for me.
If you ask me why,
I'll shake my head and sigh.
Elementary was so good
I should have stayed there while I could.
Ah, oh well, I'm moving on
In the school system.

Chorus
