My Aikido Pictures

Some pictures taken while practicing. Many more pictures are yet to came. You'll get a chance to check them out as soon as I possibly can.

I used to practice on campus of PUC University, in a little house at the back of the campus. It was almost in the middle of nowhere, but I used to like it because it was quiet and peaceful. Then I moved to Clube Militar with José Ortega Sensei, in a bigger Dojo inside the club. It is still a nice place to practice Aikido. I've trained in Rochester and White Plains (in New York) and in Sunnyvale, California. But I visit my friends in Brazil when I'm on vacations there.

Right now I'm practicing with ASNJ. It's really a cool place!

So, just for information, some pictures are in Brazil some are not. And pictures are not necessarly in chronological order (Why? Just because I like to make things confusing :-)).

Stevens sensei visits ASNJ. August(?) 2003.

This was during a Gashuku in Araras, RJ in August, 1998. Two japanese teachers came from Japan to practice Aikido with us. They are Kobayashi Sensei and Arai Sensei (8th and 7th dan, respectively). From left to right: me (Eduardo Pinheiro), Alexandre, Bernardo Ortega (my sensei's son), Arai Sensei, Kobayashi Sensei and José Ortega (my sensei). Araras, August, 1998.

Gashuku Araras 98. From left to right: Kobayashi Sensei, Arai Sensei, Shikanai Sensei and Eduardo Pinheiro (me!). You probably can't notice (even though the picture is really big) but this picture was slightly edited. First of all, there was someone next to Kobayashi sensei. Ok, no big deal, the person was cut off. Second, Arai sensei was holding a cigarette between his fingers. Since I hate cigarettes and I think it's pretty weird to be a smoking Aikido sensei, I edited his cigarette and now it looks like bushes behind him. I hope he doesn't get mad at me! Sorry, Sensei, but it looks better this way! :-)

Aikido Seminar in Syracuse. It was fun! 20/Fev/1999. In Syracuse (of course).

The Syracuse Aikikai Aikido Sensei at Syracuse, NY. I'm the one on the left and the guy on the right is Pasha, a 2nd kyu fellow of Rochester Kokikai Aikido. April 24th 1999.

Sugano Sensei, an 8th dan Aikikai Aikido Sensei. At the Sugano sensei seminar in Syracuse. Again, I'm on the left and Pasha is on the right side of sensei. 24th April 1999.

This is João and our former teacher Paulo Gamarra. This "position" is called Shomen-Uchi Ikkyo Ura

Some former Aikido people. This group is pretty old. Some of them quit or moved to some other places. But there they are. From left to right: Frederico, André Bernardo, Paulo, João, Antônio and (guess who?) me! The old man back there on the wall is O sensei the founder of Aikido, Mohirei Ueshiba. Except from Paulo we are on ascending order of experience, from left being the least experienced fellow.
