Escola 96 - Campinas
Those pictures were taken in Campinas, São Paulo, during the 10th school of computation (10a. Escola de Computação). A SBC (Sociedade Brasileira de Computação - Brazilian Society of Computation) meeting. That meeting was intended to be a week course on many topics. The ones I took were Object Oriented Database Systems, Robust Distributed Computer Systems, GNU Compiler Design & Implementation, Network Applications Issues and Challenges. They all were very interesting courses and it was a fun meeting. Here is some of what happened there:

The guy with the flute is Richard Stallman, the designer of GNU's GCC compiler and president of Free Software Foundation. The other two guys on the right are Newton and Augustinho
This is David Maier, professor of Oregon Graduate Institute. His lecture was on Principles of Object-Oriented Databases.
