A FireFighter
A Firefighter is a special breed...
Willing to help anyone in need!!

As I leave my house of love and peace...
It could be the last time, my life could cease!!

But these thoughts my mind can't occupy...
Someone needs help, I must try!!

We've seen people hurt and battered...
Seen many families completely shattered!!

As my men look at the house in full blaze...
I see determination in their gaze!!

As you enter that house, the heat draws at your skin...
But if someone needs help, I would do it again!!

As I step in that big red truck and put on my gear...
This could be my last, the end could be near!!

One of my thoughts before each run...
I pray we're safe when all is done!!

Alarms In The Night
It's 3 a.m. and my radio sounds in the night...
Another emergency or fire to fight!!

We get called out at all hours of the day...
Sometimes with only your feelings to guide your way!!

Will it be a car wreck where someone lay dead...
Where the blacktop is covered with blood so red!!

Could it be some child who broke his leg...
Help me please you could hear him beg!!

Or maybe a drowning in a river or lake...
Because someone decided their own life to take!!

It could be a house fire with someone trapped inside...
We have to search for them as they try to hide!!

As you can see when we get called out...
A lot of times we don't know what it's about!!

Our job is never an easy one...
It goes on...it's never done!!

A Suicide
It was late one summer day
Our tones went off....we were on our way!!

It was raining and storming really hard
As we pulled into the front yard!!

When I left the truck I gave my command
Each man helping...lending a hand!!

As we enter the house and look around
Our patient was nowhere to be found!!

We searched the house from room to room
Finally we found our patient who had met her doom!!

She was lying stretched out in her bed
She had shot herself....she was dead!!

The gun was still motionless in her hand
Sadness is,..this happens throughout our land!!

Sometimes we deal with this on a regular basis....
There is no run where we know what might face us!!

Fiery Flames
As we approached we saw the flames reaching high
The black smoke billowed into the sky!!

People were hurt as they lay on the ground
While others were inside still to be found!!

My men were pulling lines for an attack
Suddenly there was an explosion, we had to pull back!!

We were hit with glass and debris as it flew in the air
Innocent people were hurt , it couldn't be fair!!

As we battled the flames into the night
We were weary as we fought our fight!!

Those people we thought would surely be dead
Had escaped to their neighbors safely instead!!

Now the fire was out, our battle is won
But still as before, our job is never done!!

Brush Fire
As we arrived on the old dirt road
We were in the Deuce, we had a full load!!

I looked out the window to my right
The fire was raging, it was a terrible sight!!

It burned from the level and started uphill
Like it was alive and had its own will!!

We fought it on foot and we fought it from trucks
It continued to grow, we were having no luck!!

Acres and acres have already been burned
It came to a creek and now it has turned!!

Now we have another problem that seems to arise
We have to stop it before it claims any lives!!

With lots of luck it starts to rain
We fight harder, finally showing some gain

Now the fire is out its under control
We've finished our task, we've reached our goal!!

Life
Life is something taken for granted but something that you could lose
at any moment. So instead of spending it being bitter and sad why
not smile and enjoy what time you have on this earth. We all
have needs and feelings, so don't take someone elses feelings for granted.
Before you say something harmful or malicious to someone think how you
would feel if it was said to you! We should enjoy our families
and friends as much as possible because some day they will be gone
and we won't have them to enjoy, only our memories...so tell
them you care for them....you may never get the chance again!
Our families and friends are special people in our lives....they were
given to us to get us through the rough and trying times in
this life....without them we have no life. Give them the same
caring and consideration that they take time to give you. Without our
families and friends the world would be a really lonely place. I know
a lot of times in my life that my family and friends helped
me through times that i wonder if i could have gotten through otherwise
...so whatever you do....never take your family or your friends for
granted....they are a blessing that God has given us for a
short time *S*

Death Of An Innocent
I went to a party, Mom, I remembered what you said
You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside, Mom, the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom, even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom, I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending, Mom, as everyone is driving out of sight.

As I got into my car, Mom, I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me, so responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled out into the road,
the other car didn't see me, Mom, and hit me like a load.

As I lay there on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say,
the other guy is drunk, Mom, and now I'm the one who will pay.

I'm lying here dying, Mom. I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom? My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think.

He was probably at the same party as I
The only difference is, he drank and I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life
I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave
And when I go to heaven, Mom, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave

Someone should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom. I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you, you were always there.

I have one last question, Mom, before I say good bye.
I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die?

A Chiefs Prayer
I am called to many duties lord and now I've been called home.
I've had to leave the ones I love To stand before your throne.

I'll not complain, its not my way But there are some things I'll ask.

And please , Lord, grant them to me For the loved ones I hold fast.
I dare to ask because I know How you've blessed in the past.

I've learned to trust in your grace, O Lord That's how I've come this far.
So now, O God, I humbley pray Hear this Chief's prayer.

Bless my wife and family -- so often left alone,
They knew where I was going and Trusted you to bring me home.

Well, now I'm home and wait for them Keep them within the faith
-- that one day, Someday, we'll be together in this place.

And O dear God, bless my men I trained them as best I could.
I tried to do your will with them and lead them as you would.

I need to know your with them Lord Or else how can I stay
And peacefully enjoy this place of endless day.

This heaven where there is no night No fire to kill and burn
I guess that's why its now my rest, my place, my turn.

And Lord, be with my community And keep it safe as it can be
For all its folks are special, and very dear to me.

They are all my friends, and by your grace I served them as best I could.
So hear this Chief's prayer, O Lord
And grant it please -- I already knew you would.

Amen ~Author unknown~

Firefighters Creed!!
When I'm called to duty God
wherever flames may rage

give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late

or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout

and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me

to guard my neighbour and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life

bless with your protecting hand
my children and mywife

Death Of A Firefighter
The alarm sounds, off they go.
What they will find, no one knows.

Will they be on time, or will they be late?
Will this be the day that the firefighter meets his fate?

Arriving on the scene, they see the evil beast,
Watching and waiting for the one to be its feast.

Holding back nothing to enter the flames,
Go the heroes with unknown names.

They crawl into the beast’s fiery throat.
Knowing their duty is saving the victim they tote.

Never flinching or swaying at the beast’s lashing,
Ever alert to the sound for the roof’s crashing.

These heroes exit the structure with a limp body in their arms,
Pass the victim to medical care and turn back towards harm.

The beast is angrily waiting for the heroes to go back in
So it may take their lives so they may never fight it again.

The firefighters step toward the building,
The beast takes a deep breath,

And exhales with such force and fury,
it causes the firefighters death.

These heroes have perished, their positions will soon be filled
With the new and upcoming dragon slayers

Who have learned the basic skill.
Attack the beast and win, or it may take their last breath.

This greastest of all tragedies, A Firefighter’s Death !

A Fire Fighter's Pledge
I promise concern for others.
A willingness to help all those in need.

I promise courage - courage to face and conquer my fears.
Courage to share and endure the ordeal of those who need me.

I promise strength - strength of heart to bear whatever burdens might be placed
upon me. Strength of body to deliver to safety all those placed within my care.

I promise the wisdom to lead, the compassion to comfort, and the love to serve
unselfishly whenever I am called.

FireFighter #415
I kiss my loved ones goodnight as i did a thousand times before,
I grab my helmet, coat, and boots, and i'm out the door.

Not realizing today is the day a routine fire turns out to be something more.

A building involved with fire hides a deadly secret the crew and i can't see,
The heat, smoke, and flames start to burn away at our feet.

I turned to my crew and a tear started to come from my eye,
For the first time in my life I thought i was going to die.

I would never get a chance to say to my loved ones that I would miss them too,
Or to tell my friends, fellow firefighters, and family, "I love you".

Or to talk to others about the fun times i once had,
Or to talk of the good times and the times of bad.

It's starting to get hot in here, I don't know what to do,
I never thought that this moment would ever come true.

God came down and looked me in the eyes and took my hand,
I looked at him and said "Why me god, i just don't understand."

When the fire is over and they find me with my hand on my heart,
Please tell my family and friends were never far apart.
