Exhibits I'm Showing:
"I Love Lucie"

Rats on the Run

Daylight Robbers

Welcome to the Rodent Museum. You are free to use our Gift Shop function and make copies of all the pictures with the exception of the special exhibit on Lucie Sutton. If you would like pictures of Lucie, you must click here and consult the owner of the pictures, Katie Sutton. She's a cool person and will probably let you use pictures of Lucie on your homepage if you put on a link to Lucie's official museum, which you will find below the Lucie exhibit. Thanks a lot, Katie, for letting me use pics of Lucie in this museum. Other gerbil pictures are pretty much OK to use, but tell me if you're going to use them because if ever I get a notice saying that I must remove the pictures, I want you to know too so you don't get in trouble for what I did. I did not take any of the pictures, both of my gerbils are extremely camera-shy. Thanks a lot for reading these copyright notes and please follow them.

I Love Lucie

An exhibit honoring Lucie Sutton

Lucie Sutton: January 24, 1992 - May 3, 1996

Lucie Sutton was born on January 24, 1996, and raised by a foster mother, another gerbil named Gerbie. Gerbie was usually an aggressive gerbil, but she took to Lucie very kindly, as seen in this picture. The little gerbil in the picture is Lucie at 6 weeks old, the other gerbil is Gerbie.

This is Lucie as an adult gerbil, and is the Mona Lisa of Lucie pictures, being the most famous. Lucie died of a heart attack on May 3, 1996. She was a friendly gerbil, loved all and loved by all. Click here to visit Lucie's memorial or click here to put a flower on Lucie's grave.

Rats on the Run

Friendly Pet Rats

I got this cute rat from the Rat Site.

No, rats aren't gerbils, but they are very closely related. Rats are about 5 inches longer and weigh twice as much. Gerbils also have fuzzy, tufted tails somewhat like that of squirrels. But you've got to admit, although rats have a horrible reputation, they are extremely cute.

Daylight Robbers

Squirrels and kangaroo rats are the closest relatives of gerbils. Squirrels are often called daylight robbers because they are well known to steal birdseed from bird feeders. The solution: In the late 1980's, squirrel-proof bird feeders were developed to keep squirrels off bird feeders. They involved tipping bars, access from only directly above, which even flying squirrels can't get to, and other squirrel-proof methods. Pictured here is an Eastern Grey Squirrel, the typical squirrel that most people picture in their minds when asked to think of squirrels. If you are aquainted with gerbils, can you see how similar they are?

Here's a squirrel (yes, it's real) doing typical squirrel activity -- stealing stuff from a bird feeder.
