KB BRIDGE, CONNECTING PALAUANS TOGETHER!

"Koror-Babeldaob Bridge!"

Almost one year following the collapse of the transportation artery connecting our two main islands of Koror and Babeldaob, we are happy to announce that the last impediment to restoration of full infrastructural services has been removed. On Aug. 3, a potoon-type bridge built by Daiho Corp. was opened up to traffic. On September 26, 1996, the 790-foot Koror-Babeldaob Bridge crashed into the sea, severing Koror from it's sources of water, power, and the Palau International Airport. The bridge have served the island of Palau for more than 16 years. It was a great loss to the people of Palau.
It was one of the best place to see the sunrise and the sunset. Lots of great memories were on that bridge. Now, all that remains of it are the two sides going into the blue ocean. For the people who haven't been on the bridge, I say it's a great loss. It's a different world up there on the bridge. You can see Koror for miles in any direction. Since then, submarine water and power connections have been laid and until the Aug. 3 opening of the bridge, a ferry system was installed for service to the airport and the island of babeldaob. Now, everything are back to normal again, but without the great old KB-Bridge! The new bridge lies about fifty feet next to the remains of the old one. It's made of mostly steel and some other stuff. It was constructed and transported from Japan.
