Southern Hemisphere Alpines |
Introduction This site is an introduction to the montains and alpine plants found south of the Equator. The site is made from photos and text contributed by people living all around the world. I decided to make this site to help fix a lack of coverage of these areas on the Internet (and to a lesser extent in other literature) This website is envisaged as a kind of collaborative project with everyone able to contribute to and benefit from its contents. Apart from the New Zealand section all I will be doing is editing and maintaining the site. The rest of the contents will come from alpine enthusiasts from around the world. This is because I have never visited any other mountains around the Southern Hemisphere and know little about them. So people that have visited or live in the various countries can contribute there photos and knowledge of these places and plants. Growers of southern plants can also contribute photos and advice on how to grow them. Hopefully I will learn a lot, which I can share with any one visiting this site. So one day when I am able to visit some of the Southern mountains I will be able to appreciate them all the more. It is hoped that this site will increase in size and coverage as new contributors join up. |
