CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
All Toronto Workers Kookaburra’s Cricket Club members (players and office-bearers) are bound by this Code of Behaviour 1. All players are to play by and within the spirit of the rules. They should, at all times, maintain and promote the highest levels of conduct and sportsmanship. 2. No person bound by this Code of Behaviour shall engage in disorderly or improper conduct or behaviour. Any such person who engages in disorderly or improper conduct or behaviour breaches this Code of Behaviour. 3. Disorderly or improper conduct or behaviour includes, but is not restricted to, a person: i) failing to obey the directives of the team captain, Club Executive and Committee, Cricket Manager and Practice Co-ordinators; ii) wearing inappropriate, non-approved cricket attire on the field of play; iii) assaulting or attempting to assault, or abusing, either orally or physically, an umpire, player or spectator; iv) deliberately distracting or provoking (sledging) an opponent; v) disputing (as distinct from questioning), either sarcastically or aggressively, an umpire’s or official’s decision, or reacting in an obviously provocative or intimidating manner towards an umpire or official; vi) using crude or abusive language, hand signals or other gestures towards an umpire, spectators, opposing players or as self-admonishment when either on or off the field; vii) abusing any cricket equipment when either on or off the field; viii) refusing to supply that person’s name and address when required by another person who is lodging a report; or ix) engaging in any form of conduct or behaviour detrimental to the spirit of the game or likely to bring the game into disrepute. 4. The Captain of a team is responsible for ensuring that play is conducted within the spirit and the laws of the game and shall thereby ensure that the players (including the person acting as 12th man) of that team comply with the Code of Behaviour. Such Captain of a team breaches the Code of Behaviour if a player in that team engages in continuing disorderly or improper conduct or behaviour. 5. Any Club member (including office-bearers) reported for an alleged breach of this Code of Behaviour shall be required to attend a hearing convened and conducted under the approved Club Procedures for such a hearing. |
SCHEDULE OF PRESCRIBED PENALTIES
Penalty Categories 1 A warning and/or censure. 2 A suspension of one (1) or two (2) playing days. 3 A suspension of a specific number of playing days. 4 A suspension for the balance of the current season. 5 A life suspension / club expulsion. 6 A monetary penalty/fine. Nature of Offense · Failure to obey the directives of the Team Captain, Club Executive, Committee, Cricket Manager or Practice Coordinator Penalty Category 1/2 · Wearing inappropriate or non-approved cricket attire on the field of play Penalty Category 1/2 · Misconduct/behaving in unacceptable manner including: 1. Smoking/drinking alcohol on field 2. Audible offensive language 3. Unsportsmanlike behavior including sledging, time wasting and equipment abuse Penalty Category 1/2 · Disputing an Umpire's decision or dissension from an Umpire's decision Penalty Category 1/2/3 · Provocative dissent/dissenting from an Umpire's directive Penalty Category 1/2/3 · Using insolent, abusive or offensive language towards players and /or spectators Penalty Category 2/3 · Provocative, intimidating, threatening, aggressive behavior towards players and/or spectators Penalty Category 2/3/4 · Assaulting players and/or spectators (other than by striking or kicking) (including spitting, elbowing, chesting, shouldering, pushing etc.) Penalty category 2/3/4 · Assaulting players and/or spectators by striking and/or kicking (including striking with bat, ball or stump) Penalty category 3/4/5 · Fighting (where two (2) or more players are involved) Penalty Category 3/4/5 · Using insolent, abusive, offensive or threatening language towards an Umpire Penalty Category 3/4/6 · Provocative, intimidating, threatening, aggressive behavior towards an Umpire Penalty Category 3/4/6 · Assaulting an Umpire (other than by striking or kicking) (including spitting, elbowing, chesting, shouldering, pushing etc.) Penalty Category 3/4/5/6 · Assaulting an Umpire by striking and/or kicking (including striking with a bat, ball or stump) Penalty Category 3/4/5/6 Notes: 1 Multiple offenses arising from the one incident shall be considered together. The penalty for composite offenses shall be the most serious of the offenses plus any additional penalty as determined by the Judiciary Committee. 2 The duration of suspensions categorised in playing days allows the calculation of the number of matches over which the suspension is to be served with due reference to one (1) and two (2) day games of the current and forthcoming fixtures. The duration of the suspension will also be stated in terms of dates. 3 Repeated misdemeanors by the same offender will see an upgrading of the Penalty category. |
