Emails from Mission Moshi 2002
Staying behind while the rest of the team went on wasn't the easiest thing... even if it did turn out for the best.  Still.. I enjoyed getting emails hearing how things were going... Here are the ones sent my way after they made it...

Greetings from Africa
Hi everybody! Just thought i'd send out a little note to say Jambo and tell ya whats going on in our part of the world.  This week is vacation week, and today is the day that the mountain climbers, including Barbara, will be summitting Mt. Kilimanjaro.  One of the girls that went to Kenya will be back today, and James and Melissa are still up at Mama Lynn's orphanage.  I am spending the week around town, doing various things and gerenally relaxing before we start school next Monday.  I have gone up to the orphanage for the past two days, then come back to Moshi, and today I'm staying around town.  I am thinking that tomarrow I may go to Arusha to do some shopping, if Diana (the girl coming back from Nairobi) wants to go with me.  It's about an hour away by bus, and while the transportation is relatively safe, Arusha is much better if there are at least two of us.  it's not that it's all that dangerous, just crowded.  Anyway, I have a meeting Friday with the head mistress at the school to finalize plans, and then everyone else will be back from their safari's exept Ken, Grant, Kent & Houston, who are coming back Saturday.  They went down to Dar es Salaam, and then to Chamala Mission Hospital on the border of Zambia ( I am SO jealous!) It has been raining some today, but the temperature is good.  We have had about 20 baptisms since we got here ( thanks to the Lets Start Talking folks) and there are a lot of Bible studies going on.  All the news for the past couple days has been about the World Cup semi-finals, and as of yesterday, about a huge train wreck that happened in Dodoma on Monday.  SInce it's all been in Swahili it's hard for me to get the details straight, but i think there were about 117 people who were either injured or killed. Pray for those families.  Oh, and Mom, dont worry about Barbara's last email.  Since I'm staying in town it wont be a problem. Thanks though.  And yes, we're bringing something home for Thomas.  I'm not sure what yet though.  KM, Everybody here says hi and they miss you. Oh, and I saw the triplets yesterday, or at least two of them.  they said hi.  Also, we decided the Larium doesn't work very well anymore. We have already had 4 people come down with mild cases of Malaria. So Richard, dont get your Larium yet.  We're going to use something else next year.  Anyway, that's about all the news.  When Barbara comes down, we'll let you know who all made it to the top.  No one has come back yet, so that's encouraging.  Keep us in your prayers as we start teaching next week. Love you lots!
