IT'S RAINING! IT'S RAINING! Floyd is comin to see me! :)

today was a good day. despite not having had hardly any sleep, and all the rain and traffic on the roads, I had a pretty damn good time. I had a mini adventure, though. It was a bit irritating because i was pressed for time. Elyse invited me over so she could bleach my hair in preparation for some bright red
manic panic. I'd only been to her house once, and usually, once is all I need to remember how to get somewhere. but, it turned out I took the wrong exit, and while I was in the right area, I was going north when I should have been going south. i didn't get to her house until almost 2, and I was supposed to be there at noon. So, we didn't get a chance to do the dye, but my hair is now blonde at the roots with dark blonde streaks throughout. (i was bleaching over red, so naturally it didn't quite come out right.)

Elyse is a lot of fun. She's totally smart, she has a great sense of humor, she's crazy (in a good way), and she's just totally, 100% adorable. When we went to the mall to get stuff for my hair, we entered through Nordstrom's (a fancy-schmancy department store in the same vein as Macy's, Bloomingdales, Filene's and Upton's.) She was pushing Liam's carraige, and she says to me, "Wanna play 'Dyke-o-rama?'" Never one to pass on any kind of opportunity such as this, I replied, "Sure!" She grabbed my hand as we walked. Now, look at this picture: two tattooed, funky-looking chicks, walking hand in hand through a snotty department store, pushing a baby carraige. The looks we got were goddamn funny. :) We got the hair stuff, and then went to the bookstore, where she proceeded to ask one of the guys there: "Where are the bondage books?" He was into it. We were surprised. :) She stole a copy of the Blair Witch Project dossier for me. Now there's a good way to win someone's affections. ;)

A little background info on how Elyse and I met:
One night, Rob and I were at our favorite nude strip club, Delilah's Den. Our favorite dancer, Amanda, saw me checking out a girl that was there with her friends. She was tattooed, red hair, really cute. Amanda asks me what kind of girls I like, and I pointed at the cute tattooed chick on the other side of the catwalk. Well, she took it upon herself to investigate (which I didn't appreciate, I think it's very high school to play operator/matchmaker. ) That soured my mood, so Rob and I left. A few weeks later, I'm online browsing through personals, and there she was. I knew it was her because she has a very distinguishable tattoo; a swirling tribal-like design on her upper arm. So, I wrote to her. It was all on my terms now so I felt much more comfortable approaching her. And I'm glad I did. She's very, very cool, and I'm glad to have her as a friend.

Another person I'm glad to have as a friend (and yeah, I know I've said it before, but I'm going to say it again. So deal.) is Bill. We chatted on the phone last night for a few hours. It's rare that I can talk to anyone on the phone for more than a few minutes, so there's a feat right there. Anyone that I can talk to so openly and smoothly has definately got to be on my wavelength. I think we meet certain people for a reason, and I think we feel strong connections to certain people for a reason, too. I'm not going to get into any new age philosophy, but maybe the way you find and connect with people has a little to do with fate.

So I feel good about this. I have three people in my life whom I feel pretty much completely comfortable with. (I like Elyse very much and I get the feeling I can trust her, but like all things, trust is earned over time. So I don't feel as close to her as I do to Rob and Bill. But I think it will come eventually.) I told Rob last night after I hung up with Bill that I thought he was the closest thing to a best friend I have found, aside from him. (Boyfriends don't 100% count as friends. They're a little bit more than that.) It's just too bad that he's far away. But when it comes right down to it, you can still be a good friend even with a lot of geographical distance between you.

elyse. she just sent me this pic yesterday. Isn't she a cutie? :)
