Christian Marinus (C.M.) Pederson
Born: October 7, 1878
Place: Denmark

Died: June 28, 1950
Place: Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa
Buried: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa

Christian Marinus Pedersen came to America from Denmark in the 1880s.  He was only five years old when his parents put him and one wooden trunk on a boat to escape the potato famine and join his many brothers in the new land.  He did not arrive in Ellis Island; instead, like many Scandanavian immigrants, he landed in Canada, then found other transport to his destination.  C.M. came to Crawford County, Iowa, because it was similar to his homeland.  He raised and bred hogs; you can see a catalog
here.  He was married three times; click here to see pictures of him with his brides.
C.M. Pederson out on his farm.  His farm overlooked the valley near Dunlap, Iowa.  Look at the yard!  How difficult life must have been!

(left) This photo was taken much later than the photo above, left.  Still the same beautiful view of the valley, but there is grass in the yard.  You can see the porch he is standing next to in the photo below; this is C.M. standing with his car.
