Christian Marinus (C.M.) Pederson

Born: October 7, 1878 Place: Denmark Died: June 28, 1950 Place: Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa Buried: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa Christian Marinus Pedersen came to America from Denmark in the 1880s.  He was only five years old when his parents put him and one wooden trunk on a boat to escape the potato famine and join his many brothers in the new land.  He did not arrive in Ellis Island; instead, like many Scandanavian immigrants, he landed in Canada, then found other transport to his destination.  C.M. came to Crawford County, Iowa, because it was similar to his homeland.  He raised and bred hogs; you can see a catalog here.  He was married three times; click here to see pictures of him with his brides.
