Dunham's Second Grove - What Became the
Current Settlement in Crawford County, Iowa
Dunham's Grove (the second grove) is in the far bottom left corner, in Boyer Township (counties are divided into townships).  Click on the map to see a larger version.  This is a piece of a plat map from 1875, 26 years after Cornelius Dunham settled the area; by this time, Z.T. owned and operated the land.  You can see that Cornelius didn't move very far down the river, but it did make a world of difference.  We can thank the Native Americans of the area for this; they recommended this land to Cornelius.  You can read a little about that story  in Cornelius' biography, and see pictures of the farm here.  Click here to see the original Dunham's Grove.
