Thousands Visit Enlarged Nativity Scene at Don Dunham Home
Shown here is a part of the Nativity scene at the Don Dunham home about a mile northwest of Dunlap that has attracted wide attention in this area.  It is estimated over 3000 people have visited the scene in the past two weeks.  Over 1500 have actually registered their names and addresses, and at least twice that many have failed to register.  Many visitors from neighboring towns from as far away as Omaha have made special trips just to view the scene, while many out of state visitors, who happened to be in the community over the holidays have registered.  The scene constructed of life-size wax figures was started last year.  Six figures were on display at that time: Mary, Joseph, the Christ Child, a Shepard, the donkey, and a sheep.  This year the angel, the wisemen, the camel, to the right behind the wisemen are barely visible, and a cow at the left, not in the picture have been added.  The size of the scene has also been greatly increased.  The robes and animals are richly colored.  Work of making these figures has been done entirely by Mr. and Mrs. Don Dunham assisted by her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Don Thompson.  The scene was awarded first place in the Dunlap Lions Club rural lighting contest.
