The Definitive Guide to Speeding Tickets
How to avoid speeding tickets, Common ticket defenses, Common Speeding errors, Speeding Safety Tips... more....

Presented here is a collection of free tips and advice on how to drive safely, to help you reduce your chances of getting a speeding or traffic ticket while driving over the posted speed limit, and to fight unjust traffic tickets. The author and this site in no way guarantee that you will not receive a traffic or speeding ticket, will win in court cases, or be safe from collision. However, it is hoped that this site will help to educate and inform the "average" driver on how to protect themselves from getting unwarranted tickets. Another goal is to help end the injustices brought about by "speed enforcement" as a method of revenue generation via the guise of assumed traffic safety. The main goal, though, is to help increase the level of actual safety involved in operating a one plus ton metal, glass, and fiberglass cage (or slab, or skate, or boxcar... etc..) and to promote awareness and education towards the concerns involved in vehicular transportation.
Every situation and driver is unique and what is written here are general guidelines and personal opinion and may have different results than those experienced by the author or sources. Use your own judgement and experience. Always consult the advice of an expert in law when the need arises. The author and this site in no way or form promotes undue speeding or other illegal activities. This site is not a replacement for professional legal council and is not meant to be used as a source of professional legal advice.

This is a free self-help traffic site intended to be used by the reader for their own benefit. As with any legal matter, common sense should determine whether you need the assistance of an attorney. By using this guide, it is understood that you are acting as your own council. Accordingly, the author and this site accepts no responsibility or liability by your use of this site. Carefully read all information, warnings, and disclaimers on this site. If, after thorough examination you decide that you have circumstances that are not covered in this guide or do not feel confident about prepareing your own documents and case, consult an attorney.

What This Site Is...
This site is designed to be the single best (but not a "stand-alone") guide to speed as it relates to traffic safety. I hope you will find all the information you need to learn the best driving tactics to speed safely and still avoid paying a fine to "Big Brother." Included are tips for general driving safety, speeding, and other related "ticket fighting" information....  so, before you pay that fine, before you pay for a "Running the Red Light" or a "Failure To Yield Right Of Way" fine.... look here.
While I tend to refer to my home country quite a bit (The U.S.) many of the tips and guidance applies just as equally in any other (democratic) country. There are minor differences and even some larger ones (such as the presumption of guilt... in the U.S. a vehicle's owner is not responsible for criminal action committed by the driver... yet) but for the most part, everything tends to generally be the same. But, there are also a great sites for Californian, Canadian, and U.K. tickets in the links section. Please note that this site is a VERY generic site, designed to work for most all locals. However... City, County, State, and National (and even international, in some cases) laws, statutes, and procedures vary. This site most certainly can't address the specific laws or procedures of every place on Earth. But, if you want to find where to start your search for the information you seek... this site should help you find it.

What This Site Is NOT...
First and foremost, it is not an endorcement for unlimited speed. I do not in any way aspire to the idea that speeds on Interstates and major highways are the same as in crowded neighborhoods. Nor do I feel (opinion) that unlimited speeds would be safe on some, or even most, Interstates. But, 85th percentile speeds are safe and should also be legal. Traffic enforcement should be about safety, not revenue. Nor is this site in any way meant to be an aid to usurping the law. It is designed to educate and inform about safe driving... and why driving in a legal manner and driving in a safe manner are, quite often, two very different things.
As you read through the site, I fully suspect many to be here looking to beat a ticket. It's what I did in my quests to beat tickets. So, you will (or so I hope) find some of what you seek to beat a speeding ticket. Note, SOME... not ALL. No single site will ever give you everything you need. And, you'll find plenty of information, that today, you don't "need". But, someday, you will. Or, more to my hopes... you won't NEED, because you were prepared for such an event already. My site is not designed to guide you completely from the moment you are stopped to the moment you get out of court. (though it just might help) It is an aid. Just an aid. Nothing more, nothing less. You will still have much work to do on your own.
But, my goal, be it through direct statement or through subterfuge, is to educate. Educate about the various issues of traffic safety, mostly as such relates to speed. To educate about the law and the legal process (or what small bits I know). And to educate why simply paying a ticket is the worst way to be a safer driver. Win or lose, if you leave this site knowing more than you did when you started, then my goal is reached. And, I hope, by then, you'll understand just why that is my goal. And you'll understand why two words are responsible for the death on American (and other) roads. Those words, "speed kills", have been more responsible for death and carnage on roads than any others in history. No quick fix can change that.

The information presented here is arranged in a book format. It starts with the Table of Contents. From there, each topic is presented in a separate chapter. As you continue, there will be various types of information. Quotes from outside sources should appear italic and a link is provided afterwards. The link opens a separate browser window directly to the area the quote was taken from. At the bottom of each page, there will be a link to the next page or chapter, in large print. After this, there will be a link to return you to the Table of Contents. From any page, you can press the letter H to go to the Table of Contents. Finally, you should see three pull down menu bars at the top of each page. To use the menu system just move the mouse over the desired menu. If you don't have JavaScript... never mind.
