media and communications Chris Spence has worked on numerous media, communications and public relations campaigns and initiatives over the past decade, including political campaigns and information raising initiatives on public health, environment and climate change issues. Below are some examples of work carried out during his tenure as director of the New Zealand Drug Foundation. Alcohol Advertising Campaign This campaign sought to raise the public health impacts of alcohol advertising, particularly on younger people. Based on sound research and an effective press initiate, the campaign raised political pressure to reconsider controls on alcohol advertising. The Foundation developed a successful educational initative, producing an award-winning pamphlet for teenagers, hosting a drug education workshop, and playing an active role in the media as a spokesperson ensuring the public had access to fair, reliable and balanced information.
