A Passion Too Forbidden
Written by Darren Rowe Delilah Café, Spencer Street Sitting at a booth by the large glass frontage of the café, Leo slowly stirs a spoon in his cup of coffee. Watching the brown liquid swirl around and around, Leo thinks about the previous night at Shaznay’s surprise birthday party. Jack looks into Chloe’s eyes. “I like you Chloe and frankly I’m surprised you haven’t been seeing the signs tonight.” Chloe looks at Jack and smiles. “You like me? You, Jack Miller, CEO of Miller Inc like me, Chloe Goodwin, a simple suburban woman?” “You’re not a simple suburban woman Chloe; you’re a beautiful, sexy model who has my heart.” Slowly, Jack leans in and gently kisses Chloe. Closing her eyes, Chloe passionately kisses Jack back. “Hey,” Jack begins as he approaches a heartbroken Leo. “Wow, what a night last night.” “Yeah,” Leo replies uninterested. “Leo, what’s wrong?” “Huh, oh nothing…why?” “You just seem a bit out of it that’s all.” “Nah I’m fine.” “Oh man, you wouldn’t believe what happened to me last night.” “Oh I’m sure I would,” Leo sarcastically replies as he takes the spoon out of his coffee and places it on the table. “Chloe and I spent all night together. It was…well it was the most amazing and romantic night of my life.” “Great.” “No Leo, you’re not hearing me. It was the most amazing and romantic night of we life.” “Jack, I heard you. You two spent the whole night together. Do you really think I care?” “Hey,” Jack says as he looks at his best friend. “What’s up with you? And we didn’t sleep together.” “You didn’t?” Leo replies surprised. “No, we went down to the beach. She lied in my arms and we just looked out at the ocean all night. We hardly even spoke. There was just…just something about it, about that moment where just us two being there – together, was more than anything we could put into words.” Leo looks at Jack, his heart filled with jealously. – spencer street – Somerset General Hospital, Somerset Walking down a long, cold corridor of the bustling hospital, Kate checks over the notes of one of her patients. The sound of her black high heels hitting the hard floor sends an echo down the hall. Reaching the end of the corridor, Kate looks up from the notes and presses a button for the elevator. There’s a loud ping and the doors open. Kate’s face light’s up. “April,” she says as she enters the elevator and hugs her close friend. “When did you get back?” “Yesterday,” April replies with a smile. “So…how was it?” “It was absolutely beautiful. I…I’ve never experienced anything like it.” As the doors to the elevator close, the elevator jolts a little as it begins moving. “Well it’s great to have you back.” “I wasn’t supposed to be back just yet, but I’ve got so many appointments to get through today.” Kate crosses her arms, still holding the file of notes. “So, tell us about the honeymoon.” April looks at Kate, “It was fantastic and I have some news.” The elevator comes to a stop as the doors spring open to reveal a busy and chaotic ward. “All good I hope.” “Yes,” April replies as she and Kate begin to walk through the ward. “I’m pregnant.” “Oh April that’s fantastic. Congratulations. Well this is case...” Kate stops as she opens the door to her office. “What’s the case?” “A woman whose tests for breast cancer have come back positive,” Kate replies, a little upset. “Anyone I know?” Kate pauses. “Georgia Hudson.” – spencer street – Delilah Café, Spencer Street Walking into the popular café, Charlotte looks around. As she glances at Leo and Jack, she begins to walk to the back of the café. Taking a seat at a booth in the back corner of the café, Charlotte notices another poster on the window of the café. MISSING: Raul Saunders If you have any information phone: 555 8394 Charlotte turns her body away from the window. Picking up a menu from the table, she quickly scans her eye over it. The door to the café swings open as Harry and Emma enter. Charlotte looks up from the menu. Spotting Harry her heart begins to flutter. Memories of her past with him, the fun times they both shared begin to flood back to her. For so long she’d been waiting to see her former lover face-to-face – now was her chance. As Emma headed into the bathroom, Charlotte slides out from the booth and begins to walk over to her former flame. Straightening her blue top, Charlotte takes a deep breath as she approaches Harry from behind. Reaching him, the sweet smell of Harry’s aftershave hits Charlotte like a ton of bricks. That smell, the smell she’d fallen in love with, the smell she’d always smelt on her after having made love to Harry. There was no other smell like it in the world. Placing her hand on Harry’s shoulder, Charlotte smiled as Harry turned and looked at Charlotte stunned. – spencer street – Dr Kate Goodwin’s Office, Somerset General Hospital Taking a seat at her desk, Kate looks across at a very nervous and scared Georgia. Are you hearing me?” Georgia looks at Kate. “W…what sort of treatment?” “Well like I’ve told you earlier, Chemotherapy, Radiation therapy…” “NO!” Kate looks at Georgia horrified. “Sorry?” “I’m not doing it Kate; I’m not going through with treatment.” “Georgia, please, at least give yourself time to think about it.” “NO! If I’m going to die I want to go out with some dignity.” “Georgia, you’re not going to die. You have to do this for yourself – for Calvin and your children.” As tears begin to swell in the corners of Georgia’s eyes, she closes her eyes. “Georgia?” Georgia opens her eyes and looks at Kate. Her glassy, blood shot eyes make Kate’s heart sink. “I’ve got breast cancer.” – spencer street – The Hudson Residence, 21 Spencer Street Sitting in the living room, Miranda and Cain are looking over travel brochures. “Spain?” Cain asks. Miranda looks at Cain and screws up her face. “No, I want somewhere romantic – where it’s just you and I and a city of romance?” “San Sebastian?” “Nah.” Cain throws the travel brochure he’s holding across the other side of the room and picks up another one. “Italy? It’s got Venice, Milan, Rome and even that place that you loved on The Bold and the Beautiful.” “Portofino! Oh, I’d love to go there, but what about here?” Miranda says as she hands Cain a brochure. “Denmark?” Miranda smiles as she snuggles up to her boyfriend. “Oh I’ve always wanted to go there, see the sights of Copenhagen and experience one of the oldest cultures in the world.” Cain smiles. “If its Denmark you want, it’s Denmark you shall get.” Miranda and Cain kiss as they look at a brochure about Copenhagen. – spencer street – Dr April O’Connell’s Office, Somerset General Hospital “So are you ready?” April asks as she looks at Nicole with a big smile. Charlotte smiles. “Well I’m in town organising the hospital’s charity ball and I thought why not come and see you, see how you’re doing.” “It’s been 3 years.” “And I’ve regretted every day that we’ve been apart,” Charlotte says as she walks around and sits opposite Harry. “Are you happy to see me?” Harry sits in silence. “It’s all very…sudden. I’m in shock.” “Well that sounds like a bad thing,” Charlotte says as she takes Harry’s hand in her’s. Harry looks at Charlotte. “Charlotte I…” “You what?” “I’ve moved on with my life.” Charlotte looks at Harry and laughs. “You didn’t think I wanted to get back with you did you?” “Well I just thought…” “THEN YOU THOUGHT WRONG!” Harry looks at Charlotte stunned at her outburst. “I’m sorry,” Charlotte says as she redeems her composure. “I…I just find it hilarious that you think I want you back.” Emma walks back to Harry. Stopping, she looks at Harry. “Ah Emma…this is Charlotte Beaumont, an old friend of mine.” Emma smiles as she shakes Charlotte’s hand. “It’s nice to meet you.” Charlotte glares at Emma. “Yes, likewise,” Charlotte replies through gritted teeth. – spencer street – The Cooper Residence, 20 Spencer Street Home alone, Brock is sleeping on the couch when the phone suddenly rings. Slowly, Stuart takes a step towards Louise. Gently placing his hand on her face, Stuart smiles as he runs his hand over her silky soft cheek. Louise closes her eyes as she takes Stuart’s hand and softly begins to suck on the tips of his fingers. Stuart leans in and passionately kisses the woman he holds a special place in his heart for. Brock pushes the door to his car closed as he heads towards his colleague. “Is this it?” “Yeah, it’s a burnt out taxi all right.” “Raul Saunders’?” “I can’t tell, but look at this,” the police officer says as he hands Brock a photo. “What’s this?” “It was found just over there,” the police officer says pointing to a spot not far from the charred remains of the taxi. Brock looks at the photo. It’s an early photo of Charlotte and Harry. |
