WHO IS SPIDER? Spider is Russell Yeager, a friend of mine who has been in prison for the past several years, when he should have already been released on parole. Most recently, I sent a letter of support to the cage where he is being held captive in Lovelock, Nevada, stating that I would open my home to him and help him find work. The letter also said that I'd known him for about 6 years and he is a good friend of mine. Somebody from New Mexico's parole board was supposed to get in touch with me, and stop by my house. Nobody ever called or came by, and Spider was told that the state of New Mexico rejected his parole. This is particularly fishy because Albuquerque is the point of release for convicts from Cuba and Mexico who go to southern states and commit a crime so that they must be made citizens for the US to prosecute them. Why would the state accept those people, but not a man who has been a citizen of this country his entire life? Spider is an amazing artist, as well as an intelligent writer. For the time being, I am typing his stories...if you click on the titles above, you will be brought to the pages containing his writing. As soon as I have access to a working scanner, I'll be adding a lot of his artwork. Also, in the future some of his original artwork will be for sale on eBay. I'll put links to those auctions on this page once they are a reality. WHAT CAN I DO? Since his parole has been rejected so many times, the only way that it looks like he will finally be set free is if he can come up with the money on his own. Now, it's ridiculous to even think that a man in prison can some up with more than $1,000 on his own. So I've set up this page in the hopes that somebody, somewhere will see fit to help us with donations. $1,000+ is a daunting amount but every little bit helps. All money that is received through this website will be collected and sent straight to Spider and/or lawyers who are on his side and trying to help his cause. Not a cent of it will go anywhere without his approval. I am merely doing this for a close friend because I want to help him; all that I get from this website is the feeling that I am doing something just and right to give a friend a helping hand. HOW CAN I MAKE A DONATION? Use the "donate" button below (with a credit card via PayPal) or send a money order (made out to Bridget Dellamano) or well-concealed cash to Spider's Fund c/o Bri Dellamano * 6020 Landry Ave NW * Albuquerque, NM 87120. If you'd like, you can also send letters to this address for Spider, and they will be forwarded on to him.
To everyone: thanks for taking the first step and visiting this site!! -bRi 03/18/03
3/19/03 UPDATE (already!): Today I found some of Spider's art that had already been scanned for zines that I put together. Click on the "artwork" link below to check it out. I'm also going to ask him if he'd be interested in my starting a LiveJournal on his behalf, so that he can send me updates to type in every week or so. Hopefully I will be able to upload more artwork soon; in the meantime, I've finished typing up three of his written pieces and am working on more; that is why only some of the links at the top of the page are currently working. MORE NEWS: I've set up a yahoo group to complement this website; if you'd like to join and have something to say, please do! Of course, since it's new, it will likely be slow for a while...but any help/suggestions are welcome. -bRi
3/23/03 NEW TODAY: I borrowed a friend's digital camaera and took photos of some of Spider's artwork. I've just added a new page, "Artwork from The World Is Broken." Either later tonight or tomorrow, I'll be adding yet more pictures and typing up more of his writing for this page. I think that I'm going to start updating via the Yahoo Group, or else this page will turn into a massive page of my rambling. So if you'd like to know when I do something new to this page, please check out the group and/or subscribe to it. -bRi |
