Hi everyone i-m in vienna and typing on a very abnormal keyboard. so
forgive any misteaks.
went from zakopane, poland small ski town very touristy, to poprad, slovakia
by bus across the tatra mountains. then took the train the rest of the
way across slovakia -locals call it slovensko- to town of prievidza where
friend petra lives. highlights were- eating kielbasa =foot long very
thick sausage= off paper squares while sitting on grass by the roadside
as a carnival screamed and chimed and cranked in the background, riding
a circular ride on the carnival as the following names flashed past-
KAUFLAND- TESCO- BABY TRUCK- KAUFLAND- TESCO- BABY TRUCK- =kaufland and
tesco are local humongoid 'hypermarkets' like walmart. baby truck was
a ride featuring pint sized, pink colored tractor trailers hooked together
like a train. = the hotel had men cleaning the rooms, they had a darker
skin color and i think they were what everyone calls gypsies. when i
told one of these guys, 'thanks' he replied, 'no thanks!' i get the impression
there is a lot of racial tension. -a rally for the former communist party
as elections are approaching. it featured several local musicians, majorettes
wearing small skirts and white hats with pearls, and a very loud metal-rock
band called TUBLATANKA. They passed out little cards with pictures of
the party members which were REALLY SIGNED! I have one. the fellow does
not look like the TUBLATANKA type, he looks more like a mortician. I
must finish this email shortlz, I am out of time. Also in austria there
is some political turmoil righ t now and they will hold new elections
soon, i think. OK guys bye please send news from home. I almost forgot,
in zakopane they had whistling beavers everwhere, on every tourist stand
was a stash of beavers that would give a wolf whistle if a leaf fell
from a tree nearby, let alone hordes of tourists walking by.
